Mickey Thompson Performance Tires and Wheels had returned in a big way for a third straight season in 2014 as a partner with Team Lucas in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. One of the most famous brands in racing, Mickey Thompson Performance Tires and Wheels will be supporting one of the nation’s top short-course racing series’ with its sponsorship for 16 events during the upcoming year, as well as backing the seven-driver lineup of Team M/T Racers with its new ATZp3 Light Truck Radial Tires.
Team M/T Racers include superstars such as Brian Deegan (also racing in Pro 4) of Temecula, California, Myan Spaccarelli of Simi Valley, California, Mike Porter of Yorba Linda, California, and Jacob Person of Peoria, Arizona in Pro 2; Eric Barron of Ramona, California in Pro 4; Trenton Briley of Palmdale, California in Pro Lite; and Dave Mason Jr. of Valley Center, California in Pro Buggy.
“We’re returning with an all-star lineup,” Mickey Thompson Vice-President of Marketing Ken Warner said. “Brian Deegan won the 2013 championship in Pro Lite, Trenton Briley was the Pro Lite Rookie of the Year last season and Eric Barron was a race winner in Pro 4 in 2013. In Pro 2, we have Mike Porter, who won the Lucas Oil Pro Buggy championship in 2011, and we’ve added Myan Spaccarelli, who we think has a very promising career ahead.” Deegan also won the Lucas Oil Challenge of Champions, earning $30,000, in the 2013 season-closing event at Lake Elsinore, California in his Pro 2 Ford Truck.
“This is our third year with the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series and we are looking real good going into 2014 with some major talent on our teams,” Warner said. “Our tires are working great and we will be tough to beat. Our new ATZp3 are tough three-ply construction and can take the punishment from the big air landings that these guys get and from throwing the trucks into the corners.”
As a matter of fact, 2014 has already started out very well for Team M/T Ravers. In Rounds One and Two held the weekend of March 22-23 in Chandler (Phoenix), Arizona at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, Mickey Thompson Tire-shod drivers took four podium positions.
Founded in 1963 by the legendary Mickey Thompson, a pioneer in short course off road racing, the Stow, Ohio-based company will have a highly visible presence at the tracks and on the television broadcasts on CBS, CBS Sports Network and MAVTV American Real.
