This Mercedes-Benz SUV was only a mere concept car not too long ago, but it’s now getting the green light to start production. Dubbed the G500 4×4 Squared, it debuted earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4 Squared has a four-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 422 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque.. The SUV is also equipped with portal axles, 22-inch wheels and 37-inch tires, not to mention 18 inches of ground clearance.
Approach angle is 52 degrees and departure angles is 54 degrees, with a breakover angle of 47 degrees. The G500 4×4 Squared does not just drive over some things, it can drive over all things.
Permanent all-wheel-drive and three differentials that are lockable while on the move really show how off-road capable this luxury SUV really is. New buyers will know that they will be able to look nice out on the town and still have a vehicle that can take into the dirt. That is, if they can ever come to terms with besmirching the machine with (gasp!) scratches and dings.
Mercedes-Benz has said that the G500 4×4 Squared will begin to arrive at dealerships this December. The only downfall of this is that the G500 4×4 Squared will not be on American soil for quite some time.
The pricing that was announced in Germany stated that the SUV will come in at around $257,500. This is not even Mercedes-Benz’s most expensive SUV, as it comes in second to the AMG G65. Who will be “baller” enough to buy it? That is the question we’ll have to see answered as these units begin to arrive.
