If you’re like many off-road fans who are dedicated to the gold Bowtie through and through, you probably expected Chevy to come up with some sort of competitor for the Ford Raptor soon after the blue oval-wearing off-road beast hit the market. Unfortunately, we haven’t quite seen that yet, although rumor has it that the future Silverado ZR2 might be just what Chevy fans have been asking for. But regardless of the ZR2’s future competitiveness with the Raptor, we recently came across a Chevy that would give the Raptor a run for its money, and it’s available right now.
The vehicle is called the Southern Comfort Reaper and it’s a 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ Crew Cab 4-door pickup that has been modified by none other than Lingenfelter in cooperation with Southern Comfort Automotive. And just like all the rest of the Chevys Lingenfelter touches, this bad boy is supercharged to the gills, giving it 475hp; not bad compared to the Raptor’s 411hp.
Recently featured on eBay, this 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Reaper features a high-clearance front bumper with a reinforced skid pad, FOX Racing remote reservoir shocks, a Ridetech suspension package, Corsa Performance exhaust, rock guard, Reaper 20-inch wheels and extra sticky 33-inch General Grabber tires, in addition to the Lingenfelter TVS1900 Magnuson Supercharger package, making it the perfect semi-factory off-road Chevy to go toe-to-toe with the Raptor.
There are also a number of aesthetically-pleasing things added to the truck, like graphics, special Reaper gauges, a restyled front clip and grille, and a custom stitched leather interior that add even more appeal to off-road machine.
Offered with just 33 miles on the odometer and a warranty, the asking price for the Reaper was $79,800, which the seller did not get. But because of this, we have a feeling this won’t be the last time we see this uber off-road truck up for sale- giving you a unique opportunity to own a legitimate Ford Raptor competitor, even before Chevrolet manufactures one of their own!
