Lazer Star Lights of Paso Robles, California, has stepped up to the plate and become the title sponsor of Matt Lovell’s Mid-sized Trophy Truck. Lazer Star quickly noticed Lovell’s massive attention to detail and design. For the 2012 and 2013 seasons, Lazer Star sponsored Matt Lovell Racing, setting up the truck with lights to improve nighttime racing for the team. Discussions brought the program to the next level, bringing Lazer Star to the title sponsor of the team for 2014.
The truck was built by Matt Lovell and his team at Matt Lovell Raceworks back in 2009, specifically for Best In The Desert Class 7200, High Desert Racing Association Class 7200 and SCORE International Class 6. The race class requirements are fairly standard across the board. SCORE International requires the race car to have a production appearing Mini or Mid-sized truck or SUV body, have six-cylinder or smaller engine and is not to exceed 87 inches in width.
Matt Lovell's No. 7244 Mid-sized Trophy Truck is built for serious business, attacking race courses and catching eyes at shows.
The fully custom-built 4130 chromoly chassis is propelled by a Ford 4.0L V6 that is fed by a 37-gallon Harmon Racing Fuel Cell. The 4130 chromoly suspension is strapped up at 24 inches of front and 34 inches of rear travel with King 3.0 Bypass and 2.5 Coilovers doing the dirty work of keeping the 127-inch wheelbase race truck riding smooth through the whoops.
Laser Star is a cutting edge lighting company with top of the line HID and LED technologies and classic round and current trending bar lights. With their help, Lovell intends to chase the championship for the 2014 year. The truck can be seen in races all throughout the season, as well as at events such as the Sand Sports Super Show, Off-Road Expo and the 2014 SEMA show.
