Ultra4 Racing is a tough series to compete in. Hundreds of competitors from around North America battle it out against each other on some of the wildest terrains there is. These rigs and their occupants must traverse over boulders, sand, around trees and so much more, just to finish the race.

The fastest time gets the top of the podium. The Ultra4 Championship race series combines endurance racing, short course racing, and desert racing and puts racers to the test against them all.  For the 2016 race year, the Championship belongs to Jason Scherer and the number 76 Rubicon Express Nitto Tire Car.

Scherer and his team came out of the gates strong at the beginning of the year securing a first place win at the Fallon 250 in Fallon, Nevada, east of Reno. The course was set up as an endurance race where competitors had to blast through a 41-mile desert loop six times as fast as they could while keeping their racecar in one piece.

Next up Scherer took on the world-famous King Of the Hammers (KOH) race in Johnson Valley, California. The team followed up their second-place finish at KOH with another second-place finish at the Metalcloak Stampede and 3rd at the Nitto National Championships. The only non-podium finish was Hot Springs Arkansas where he finished 8th after a fluke mechanical issue while leading.

“We started the year on the pole position for King of the Hammers and have maintained our consistency all year,” said Scherer. “We had a fast car, but it was also reliable for the first time since we built it over a year ago. I have clearly teamed up with the best partners in the industry to get the reliability that is needed for these extremely challenging races.”

New for 2017, Safecraft Safety Equipment has partnered up with Scherer and his race team. “I am very appreciative of a new partnership with Safecraft Safety Equipment who is opening up shop space for our team as my kids’ toys have helped us grow out of my 3-car garage!” said Scherer.

The 2017 season is expected to be just as good. Work has begun on the racecar to convert it from a single seat to a two seater so Scherer’s former co-driver can join in and help.
