It may seem like it just happened, but the 2016 Baja 1000 is less than four weeks away. Teams will soon be heading out to prerun the course and get ready for the gauntlet that the race has become.
J.E. Reel Drivelines has teamed up with Proctor Racing Group to be their official driveline supplier. Proctor Racing Group will be racing the factory supported Honda Ridgeline in this year’s Baja 1000. Below is a clip of the team running the race last year:

“I have known Jason Lafortune (one of the drivers) going on 10 years now from when we raced Jeepspeed together,” Tom Nissley of J.E. Reel explained. “We have been servicing the factory-backed Honda teams drivelines for a while and I told Jim I want our name on that car. He agreed and said I can work out a sponsorship with them.”
“At the Off Road Expo in Pomona I was able to set up a meeting with Jeff Proctor and Jason Lafortune in our booth and let them know what I was willing to do for them,” Nissley continued. “Jason jokingly said to me ‘Well you are going to need to sell me on this,’ and before I could come up with an answer Jeff butted in and said ‘We haven’t broken one yet!’ They agreed and we shook on it to seal the deal.”
J.E. Reel Driveline will be supporting them for the rest of the 2016 season and throughout 2017. “We know they are a team that win or lose they will fight all the way to the finish,” Nissley said. “We are excited to be able to work with them.”
With the team had great success at last year’s race, and they are looking to repeat in Baja again. Stay tuned for more information on the team and results from the Baja 1000.
