American Honda announced a new racing team dedicated to the new Honda Talon 1000R side-by-side. The new team and race vehicle will take on the competition in multiple races through the 2020 race season.

A driver has yet to be announced. The team will be managed by Jeff Proctor and his team Proctor Racing Group. “Honda has such a rich history in racing, especially on two wheels, and in Baja,” says Proctor, who recently won Class 7 in a Honda Ridgeline at the 2019 SCORE International Baja 500. “I am humbled to be able to represent Honda Powersports, and the Talon at the highest level of desert racing.”

Through the end of the 2019 year, the team will be designing, building and testing the Talon 1000R. The plan is to have a two-vehicle team. The race vehicle’s specs have not yet been determined or released. The Talon 1000R was unveiled in March and shows excellent specs, right out of the box.

Honda Talon 1000R

The stock Honda Talon 1000R is nearly race ready, right off the showroom floor.

The Talon 1000R available on showroom floors features a 999cc liquid-cooled UniCam Parallel-Twin engine with a six-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. Front suspension achieves 17.7-inches of travel using an independent double-wishbone set up. The backend is a 4-link trailing arm system that tops at 20.1-inches of travel.

As f right now, the team is expected to race King of the Hammers, Mint 400, UTV Word Championship, Vegas to Reno and both the Baja 500 and 1000.l
