After the successful launch of the 2015 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, GM is taking things one step further adding new packages to suit the performance needs of customers. They have announced that a Z71 performance package similar like one in the Chevy Silverado will be added for 2015. Currently the 2015 Tahoes and Suburbans contain amenities such as OnStar 4G LTE WiFi and a hands free rear lift gate. The rear lift gate works when the driver passed his or her foot underneath the rear bumper, activating a sensor that auto opens the gate. Their powertrains are made up of a direct-injected 5.3L LS mill producing 355 horsepower.
The base models sound advanced enough which leads us to ask what could the Z71 package contain? Guessing based on the Silverado’s package, the Z71 Suburbans and Tahoes will likely be equipped with a suspension made from Rancho shocks that will improve off-road performance. The 3.08 posi-track rear will help keep the tires rolling through the mud, while underbody cladding will protect the truck from the rough elements. The 2015 Silverado Z71 is also equipped with a hill descent feature that helps the truck maintain stability during steep descents, mostly likely this will be seen on the SUVs.
In an age during which the majority of SUVs on the market are built with Soccer moms in mind its refreshing to see GM is still building a man’s SUV. The Tahoe and Suburban are fullsize beasts that are great for not only hauling the family on a road trip but for taking them on an off-road adventure too.
