Ambulances are usually called to a scene of despair, and situations that someone is in need of help, but what really happens when the ambulance is in need of some help. Eric Kincaid and his team have breathed new life into their 1974 Dodge B300 ambulance.
The vehicle was in rough shape when they first picked it up, but have given the ambulance one more chance at life. Kincaid and his team have turned the ambulance in to a off-road rally vehicle. The team participates in the Gambler 500, a two day rally from Portland, Oregon to Central Oregon and back . The rally is for teams of friends, that race a vehicle that they were able to purchase for $500, making for a level playing field and a wide mix of vehicles.
With the ambulance on life support Kincaid turned to Performance Distributors for help. With their help, they put in a Dodge Small Block DUI Distributor and LiveWires. They were able to get the 360ci small block Dodge back up and running.
Kincaid said “We installed the distributor, and the van fired right up. We have had no issues with the distributor or the wires since they have been in the ambulance.” The color of choice for the install was blue. With the rest of the engine accessories with blue already, it seemed like the right choice.
The best part of the process according to Kincaid, has been the customer service from Performance Distributors and the quality of the product. “The wires are really nice, plus with the blue high temperature shield around the we know the wires will be safe,” Kincaid mentioned about the LiveWires.
The rally did not go the way the team had planned with them getting a flat tire, and ending their day. The team is excited to head back out to the rally next year and give the Gambler Van one more chance.
