With the all-new Jeep JL out, many people have forgotten about the JK. Once on the top of the food chain, the JL has now taken that crown.
Bestop has brought new life back to the JK with its recently released Core Doors for the 2007 to 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK. The Core Doors are made from cast aluminum and have a removable center panel, that requires no tools to be removed, for an open-air experience.
The Core Doors are shown with the inner panel on (left) and removed (right).
“Our goal was to produce a no-excuses, OEM quality, modular half-door at a great value,” said Bestop CEO John Larson. “Based on the overwhelming response so far we’re eager to start delivering to our customers.”

The doors boast a weather seal comparable to a full door while still being able to turn into a trail door. Bestop has also designed Premium Black Twill Uppers that fit with the Core Doors and OE style doors as well.
Put To Use
One of the first sets of Core Doors out was installed by Scott Stephens at Texas Truck Works. Texas Truck Works installed the Core Doors on a white JK that debuted at the Jeeps Go Topless event in Crystal Beach, Texas. The JK had a 6.4-Liter Hemi and Dana 60 axles.
“The doors truly accent the overall look of the Jeep,” Stephens explained. “The install was straight forward and we did not run into any issues. We liked the fact that we were able to color match them with the inner accents a different color.”
Whether on the streets or on the beach, the Core Doors add a look and function to the Jeep JK.
Not only did the Core Doors provide a function to the Jeep, but they also provided a visual addition. “The Core Doors are an added value to accent your Jeep,” Stephens continued. “The centers can be taken out and you have an open-air look. Install the centers and these doors flow with the overall look of the vehicle.”
Overall, the Core Doors are a great addition to a Jeep that sees time as both a daily driver and a weekend warrior. For more information on Bestop and the Core Doors, be sure to check out their website.
