If you are like us, you probably can’t help from laughing every time you drive by camping areas and see them crammed with RVs. Sure these homes on wheels can be convenient, but there’s got to be something better … right?
Mercedes-Benz might have the answer with its new off-road RV home called the Zetros. The Zetros is an RV capable of setting up residence anywhere. The truck, a collaboration with Hartmann Spezialkarosserien (body) and Hünerkopf (interior equipment), was on display at last week’s Caravan Show in Düsseldorf.
The overall look and size of the Mercedes truck is somewhat staggering. But it’s what’s inside that takes it to the next level. Simply put, the Mercedes truck carries an apartment that would make some in the Big Apple jealous.
Inside you’ll find amenities that could easily decorate the nicest of homes. maple-wood veneer, natural stone, and genuine leather are just some of the materials that are used. The walls, roof, and floor are one-piece galvanized and plastic-coated panels.
The passengers are able to increase the living area by 2.5 meters simply by activating an electrically powered slide-out on the left of the vehicle. The RV also includes an entertainment system that is complete with an automatic satellite dish, internet connection, and Bose sound system. The living and sleeping areas are both equipped with an LED screen.
In the front, a small path allows for a smooth transition from cab to body. While the living area features an L-shaped seating arrangement with a kitchenette. The bathroom is standard with toilet, wash area, and separate shower.
With all that said, don’t underestimate the Zetros. There is plenty of power on reserve stemming from the 7.2-liter inline-six-cylinder that produces a staggering 322hp. The truck also is capable of holding 300 liters of fresh water and 600 liters of diesel fuel, and amazingly enough of a solar energy system with lithium-ion batteries to ensure that you could take the Zetros just about anywhere.
