You may notice 4x4s coated in trail dirt and mud arriving at the off-road and overlanding-focused 2025 MOORE Expo in Springfield, Missouri. This is thanks to the first-ever Midwest Discovery Route—an exclusive, optional 300-mile off-road adventure that leads participants to the Expo.

The Midwest Discovery Route spans 300 miles. Participants can start in one of four cities and end their journey at the MOORE Expo in Springfield, Missouri.
The Midwest Discovery Route Is Designed For Overland Vehicles
The new Midwest Discovery Route, presented by Midland Radio, is a standalone event that runs from April 21–26. There are four starting points: Kansas City, Missouri; St. Louis, Missouri; Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Little Rock, Arkansas. The 300-mile route features scenic backroads, rugged terrain, and water crossings. The route is designed to sharpen participants’ overlanding and navigation skills, making it a perfect prelude to the overlanding and off-road-centric Expo. It is intended for overland vehicles such as 4×4 trucks and SUVs, with OEM off-road features recommended at a minimum.

About The Route
Participants of the Midwest Discovery Route registered prior to April 4. The per-vehicle fee of $60 included a professionally designed Midland Radio rally navigation book (mailed to registrants in advance of the event), a swag bag, a commemorative patch, and a navigator support book. Participants can submit their rally book at the MOORE Expo for grading to win prizes provided by Midland. Midland radios are recommended to ensure communication along the route. The company offers a wide range of radios, including the MXT500 and MXT575 50-watt GMRS mobile radios and the GXT67 5-watt handheld GMRS radio.
MOORE Expo Is The Largest Event Of Its Kind In The Midwest
Andrew Kinsman, Director of Category Marketing at Midland, says, “We’ve been attending this event since it first began in 2020. We previously sponsored the SMORR2MOORE (Southern Missouri Off-Road Ranch) at MOORE Expo. It’s the largest event of its kind in the Midwest, where Midland’s headquarters are, so we’re extremely proud to be the title sponsor of the first-ever Midwest Discovery Route. This is a great, hands-on way to utilize Midland products for off-roading events and continue to show others why we’re considered a leader in two-way communication.” Midland is also the Official Communications Provider of MOORE Expo.
Founder and CEO of MOORE Expo, Chris Holloway, noted that Midland is a perfect sponsor of the Midwest Discovery Route. “We couldn’t ask for a better partner than Midland to help us make Midwest Discovery Route a great success this year. Their expertise in off-road communication, combined with our passion for designing the ultimate adventure route, makes the partnership a perfect match.”
The MOORE Expo offers everything from overlanding and 4x4-centric vendors to skill-enhancing classes. You'll also find a huge collection of 4x4s on display.
