Field trips are some of the most memorable times in school. Getting out beyond the walls most of us would have considered a prison, and seeing whatever it may be. We almost all looked forward to the bus ride.
Bartact and Motorworks in Murrieta, California are putting an off-road spin on school bus. Field trips will never be the same with their short bus. They are taking a 1991 Ford E350 with a 7.3-liter non turbo diesel bus and turning it into the ultimate off-road party bus. The bus has already seen time off-road. The video below has the bus out in Glamis, California taking on the whoops completely stock.
Off Road Xtreme had the chance to check out the bus before the work got started. We headed over to Motorworks to check out the bus as work began. The bus arrived at the shop a week before the Off Road Expo to get some quick work before making the trip to the show.
Crunch time hit and the bus was only able to get a new exhaust before the expo. This will not be some show vehicle that does not see any dirt, this bus will see plenty of action.
Sitting in the shop are 2005 Ford F-350 axles that will give this bus four-wheel-drive. The team does have plans to push the rear axle back to allow for an increased departure angle. The bus is still a work in progress, but it was nice to see it out at the expo.
Keep checking back with Off Road Xtreme as we follow the build of this off-road short bus. This will be one lesson you will not want to miss!
