It is that time of the year where dirt is flying, and the roar of short course trucks are back in action. The 2016 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) heads to Chandler, Arizona and Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park March 19th and 20th.
Last year there was plenty of action and a streak of streaks in the Pro 4 class with Kyle LeDuc winning it seemed like every time he went out. He finished first in 12 consecutive races and took home his third championship. He looks to come back and pick up right where he left off, but with an even bigger bullseye on his back.
Off-road racing legend Rob MacCachren has finished second in the last two seasons looks to change this, “We’ve made changes to the drivetrain in the Pro 4 and we’re trying some different things,” he said. “We need to learn some stuff with this truck to put into the new one. Kyle’s staying a step ahead of everybody. We believe we’re making improvements and should be getting closer.”
LeDuc knows that he has had to stay on his A game and has spent the winter building a new truck, “We’ve got some ideas and some changes we want to make,” he said. “You’ve got to stay ahead of the curve. It’s weird, towards the end of the season kind of weird things start happening. We’ve got to change the way we maintain the truck. We’re going to do a full refresh at midseason, like we’re starting the season all over, and throw some of that risk away.”
Last season is now in the rearview mirror and everyone’s points are back even for the start of the new season that starts this weekend. Check out the full weekend schedule at the LOORRS website.
