The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series LOORRS is making its first trip south of the border for the Rockstar Energy ‘South of the Border Battle’ Off-Road Race August 1st and 2nd. The event will take place a the new Baja International Short Course at Estero Beach, Baja California, Mexico for rounds 11 and 12.
This is the first time that the LOORRS will race outside the united states. The races will be run on a purpose-built, 1-mile track complete with whoops, berms, jumps and high-speed straightaways.
Baja is no stranger to off-road racing and has plenty of off-road racing fans eager to come and watch. They are anticipating an audience of more than 10,000 to be in attendance.
“Mexico is a very important market for Lucas Oil,” said Lucas Oil Products, Inc., Executive Vice President, Bob Patison. “Six of our top 100 global customers are based in Mexico, so we are very excited to be able to export two rounds of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series across the USA/Mexico border for the first time.”
The Baja experience will not be new for everyone. Many of the veteran and top racers such as Rob MacCachren, Bryce Menzies, and hometown star Rodrigo Ampudia, have all raced in Baja and enjoy everything it has to offer.
Baja fans usually only get to see these trucks and drivers during desert races and will be anxiously waiting all the short course action. With championship point battles still up in the air, and then last weekends rain out at Glen Helen, the drivers will be itching to let the dirt fly.
