Jump Champs is back! The event that took place back in May is back to kick the dust up once again at Glen Helen Raceway December 17th for the Time Trials only event. The event takes off-road enthusiasts and places them at the center of the action.
“The Time Trials only event had roots develop about a week before our last event,” Sean Kepler of Jump Champs said. “Our motto ‘Be the Show’ was a great success and we had filled up and over our capacity a week before the May 7th event! We knew there was a strong demand for the off-road enthusiast to participate in a fun and safe yet challenging test of driver skill and vehicle setup.”
“It was easy to see that a Time Trials only event would be a sure hit,” Kepler continued. “The motto for this event changed in words but not in the tone, ‘For the Racers’ is what this is all about. Our goal to give everyone the chance to ‘Be the Show’ can now be focused on giving them the experience of a lifetime. Race on legendary courses most people only see on tv: battle your friends and similar trucks with digitally recorded times and share that experience with your friends or family that don’t normally get to taste the excitement that off-road has to offer.”
This time around the jumping will be left out, but swapped for plenty of action all day long. The time trials will dominate the day with two courses: mild and wild.
“The mild track is a hybrid of our original, but was increased by about 40 percent in length and time,” Kepler explained. “This course is for any and all vehicles, with great spectating areas throughout each set of obstacles. The Wild Track is using the legendary hills of Glen Helen Raceway and is only available for the ‘Pro’ Classes and UTV class. This Wild Track will have hill climbs, wall rides and plenty of turns to keep the participants on their toes!”
Topping off the day under the lights will be an invite-only event called the Drift Wall. This event heads to the moto course and allows the drivers to drift on the close to 50-degree embankment. Drivers will come into the 250-foot turn at close to 50 miles per hour.
“Most racers know that cornering technique and sliding sideways are the toughest elements of racing, but not always the most exciting,” Kepler added. “The Drift Wall was dreamed up after years of blasting desert berms or carving giant sand dunes. We all love the thrill of coming in hot, and trying to throw the biggest roost our vehicles can. Well, the Drift Wall takes that to another level by giving drivers a 50-degree banked slope that is almost a football field in length. We’ve got some celebrity drivers, both famous and some infamous taking on the Drift Wall.”
Think that is enough action for one event? it may be for some, but for the event happening in a couple weeks there is one more piece that you will not want to miss – Vaughn Gittin Jr. “We were very fortunate to have caught his attention with our last event and by chance, we were able to connect before this event,” Kepler said. “He is a world renown athlete that is sponsored by brands that are global leaders in the sector: Ford Motors, Monster Energy, and Nitto Tire to name a few.”
“Vaughn has been experimenting with off-road more and more and wants to use the Jump Champs Time Trials event to hone his skills and also to share the thrills that sliding and jumping around a dirt track brings,” Kepler continued. “Vaughn will be giving rides in both his ‘Ultimate Fun Haver,’ the Kibbetech-built Ford F-150, and also in a Tubeworks Edition 2017 Yamaha YXZ 1000R SS UTV.”
