Ford has announced that all the entire lineup of 2017 Ford F-150s will have auto start-stop technology as a standard option. With every F-150 having this feature it does mean that the 2017 Raptor will also have this feature.
Auto Start-Stop technology is specially tuned for truck customers, shutting off the engine when the vehicle is at a stop – except when towing or in four-wheel-drive mode. The 2016 F-150 with 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine comes standard with Auto Start-Stop.

Auto Start-Stop technology will be standard across 100 percent of the EcoBoost-equipped 2017 Ford F-150 lineup, potentially representing more than 60 percent of all F-150 sales.
“EcoBoost already powers F-150’s best-in-class towing,” said Doug Scott, Ford truck group marketing manager. “Now, with every EcoBoost-equipped F-150 mildly electrified with standard Auto Start-Stop technology, customers’ fuel efficiency is expected to improve as well.”
All the following vehicles will have the feature:
- 2016 F-150 2.7-liter EcoBoost
- 2017 F-150 2.7-liter EcoBoost
- 2017 F-150 3.5-liter EcoBoost
- 2017 F-150 high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost
Actual fuel savings vary depending on driving patterns. The technology also contributes to a reduction in CO2 emissions due to decreased idle times. Ford is playing off of their knowledge of electric vehicles which will help ensure a smooth engine restarts once the brake is released.
We are surely interested to find out more about the 2017 Raptor and this is just one more little snippet of details on that truck. Do you think that this feature will truly help the truck or just one more thing to raise the price of the vehicle? Tell us in the comments below!
