Who said a car made decades ago has to look the same now as it did leaving the factory? That’s the question the builder of this 1959 Ford Country Squire station wagon asked himself when he went to town on this awesome little postwar project vehicle. Given how clean the results look, we can’t help but agree with the sentiment and find out just what the heck happened here.
Right away, we can tell the car’s height has been drastically altered. Far and away from the stock ground clearance of 7.1 inches, this bold Blue Oval now has (at the very least) a good two feet of space between the body and the road. It’s made all the more noticeable by a set of brand new, white-out BFG All-Terrains wrapped around classical-looking, five-spoke, 18-inch wheels.
The description fills out a few more points of interest, and clears up a few of the remaining questions we have. “351 [ci] motor, said to be out of an ’80s F-150 2BRL carb. Runs great, no smoke, three speed tranny, manual locking hubs. Body said to be out of Arizona. Roughly 30,000 miles on body, interior in great shape, mostly original except bucket seats.”
Elsewhere, it’s confirmed that the wagon does have a four-wheel-drive drivetrain, although it’s unclear which transfer case is being used, much less where and how it was found and installed. Damage to the car includes paint chips, paint cracks, a small rip in the backseat, and some denting to the rear taillight cover.
From its irresistible “wooden” panels to those meaty off-road tires to the trusty 351 V8, there’s a lot to love about this lifted wonder. No matter your preference for automaker or national origin, something as clean and awesome as this has to stir something inside your soul!
The hours are ticking away for the Country Squire on eBay, where it still has a few hours (as of this writing) and a lot more bids to get through before it gets sold. Will you step up to the plate?
