We have seen Hemi Jeeps and 440-powered Jeeps before, but this 2JZGTE-powered Wrangler found on Craigslist may be a first. For those who are unfamiliar with the 2JZGTE, it’s the powerplant of the famous Toyota Supra MKIV. It’s a twin-turbo 3.0L inline-six that produces 276 horsepower in stock form.
Looking at the pictures it seems the owner has put a lot of hard work into this Wrangler. It has been given a fresh coat of red paint and a new removable hard top. The exterior is clean and looks brand new despite being a ’97.
It has a custom hood with an opening for the turbo. The shocks, brakes and rotors have all been replaced. The engine has been rebuilt and given an aftermarket turbo setup with s372 and hx35 turbos using a HKS blow-off valve and waste-gate. The turbos are connected to a Precision intercooler.
According the owner’s description, the 2JZGTE is mated to a “Wrangler V8 transmission” (we are not sure if he means the 4 speed auto or the 5 speed manual). The transmission is equipped with an Act 6 puck clutch, driveshaft and welded rear. The Wrangler sits on Mickey Thompson wheels with Yokohama tires, and has both rear wheel drive and four wheel drive options for street and off road performance.
It’s located in Dallas and has working heat but no A/C, which must be fun in Texas. The interior has been modified with four RSX bucket seats. The asking price is $18,000, cash no trades. Would you drive a Toyota Supra-powered Wrangler or should it have a Mopar powerplant?
