MT_2The wild and twisty track at Glen Helen did its best to break the racers, but four competitors running on Mickey Thompson rubber emerged victorious across the various Lucas Oil classes. The event was Round 9 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS), and it took place on Sunday, July 19th.

Rain stalled Round 10 from happening during the weekend, as the track became a mud bog Saturday night but dried up by Sunday morning. More rain on Sunday afternoon caused Round 10 to be postponed.

Nevertheless, the four racers–Brian Deegan, Garrett George, Chad George, and Mike Valentine–powered through and landed on the podium once the dust had settled. Deegan earned a second place finish in Pro 4, his Baja Pro Radial tires finding the right lines and traction to surge ahead.

Meanwhile, Pro Buggy racers Garrett, Mike, and Chad grabbed first, second, and third, respectively. All three used Sportsman S/T tires normally meant for the muscle car crowd, but they were tough enough to take on Glen Helen and survive.

“Given the nearby wild fires and the massive amount of rain that eliminated qualifying rounds and impacted both the track conditions and race schedule, everyone did a fantastic job,” stated Ken Warner, Vice President of Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels.

Things will take a turn for the unusual at the next LOORRS event, set to go down in Baja this weekend, August 1-2. It will definitely be a competition to watch, as this marks the first time the series has gone south of the border.
