Last weekend in rainy Detroit, Michigan, Burt Jenner from Los Angeles, California won his second Stadium Super Trucks (SST) race. The races were being held at Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix in a rain-soaked asphalt track.

The Speed Energy Stadium Super Trucks series (presented by Traxxas) features off-road trucks which replicate their Radio Controlled (RC) Traxxas truck. Each truck runs the same 600 hp motor, as well as street-legal, unaltered Toyo A/T Open Country 35-inch tires.

With the series being more of a driver series, every event can have a new leader or one of the same. SST is all about taking the right lines and driving the cleanest to outrun everyone who has the same truck.

Burt Jenner won his last SST race at the St. Petersburg Grand Prix back in March. Jenner finished third both Friday and Saturday but finished first Sunday taking the overall weekend victory.

Burt Jenner and Scotty Steele traded the lead spot four times on the final lap making for an exciting race. Burt Jenner said “This is just a dream come true.” He was referring to seeing his childhood idol and his dad’s teammate at Roush Racing, Scott Sharp. He knew as he showed up and saw him that it “was going to be a good weekend.”

Steele gave Jenner a run for his money with standing water all over the track. Scotty Steele said that he loved driving in the rain and it showed the entire weekend, always being in the rear view mirror of Jenner.

The drivers faced driving visibility challenges all weekend being sprayed by the truck in front of them around the 2.35-mile course. The race in Detroit was the ninth event of the season with the SST series going to the X Games June 4-7.

After X Games, SST will resume its regular schedule with racing June 12-14 at the Toronto Grand Prix in Ontario, Canada.
