Four Wheel Campers has unveiled its new CampOut series, a modular, slide-in, pop-up truck camper designed with the chops to handle off-road use. The CampOut follows the company’s “Build Your Way” philosophy, which allows users to configure the camper’s layout and features by adding or removing modules easily.

Four Wheel Campers says the new CampOut modular, slide-in, pop-up truck camper fits nearly every pickup truck on the market.
About Four Wheel Campers
Four Wheel Campers has a long history of producing off-road-ready campers. In fact, the company can trace its origins back to Colorado in 1972. At that time, Dave Rowe was “needing a way to go further off the beaten track,” so he created a hard-sided camper that could fit on a Scout, Blazer, or Bronco. Soon after, the design evolved into a pop-up camper that reduced weight and fit on a standard pickup truck. In addition to being lighter, the pop-up design also offers reduced wind resistance. Additionally, Four Wheel Campers uses welded aluminum frames, which reduce weight, increase durability, and eliminate the chance of water damage to a wood frame.
One of the cool things about a slide-in truck camper is that it can be paired with an owner’s preferred truck, meaning it can be used with a stock pickup, a heavily modified trail machine, or anything in between. And if you upgrade your 4×4 pickup, chances are you can use the camper on your new rig
Modular And Light
CampOut provides a modular platform that allows users to begin with limited modules, a fully equipped setup, or a custom mix. “This series combines modular design and lightweight durability, providing a highly adaptable camper for any journey,” says Larry Baab, CEO and board member of Four Wheel Campers.
Four Wheel Campers’ CampOut features all-aluminum “Flex Frame” construction, aluminum exterior sides, and a one-piece roof. The side walls and roof are insulated, and the pop-up liner has four windows. The camper’s entry door has locks and a screen for ventilation. Gas strut lift assists make raising the pop-up roof easy, and there’s an external roof lift actuator.

Two Modules Are Included
At the time of this writing, the CampOut for short-bed trucks starts at $25,995, while long-bed models start at $26,995. Standard modules include the Utility Module and the Power Module. The Utility Module includes secure internal and external storage. Options include a propane furnace and two versions of a portable, two-burner stove. The Power Module includes a lithium battery, a smart monitor, multiple power ports, and solar compatibility. Options include two lithium batteries, four solar panel packages ranging from 130 to 500 watts, and a 2,000-watt power inverter for dual battery applications.
Optional modules include a Water Module, a Fridge Module, and a Seating Module. The Water Module has a sink, a portable Dometic 12-volt faucet, removable water jugs, and storage options. A Dometic CFX fridge/freezer is standard with the Fridge Module, which also offers storage options. Finally, the Seating Module’s configurations vary by truck size but include bench seating or a front dinette layout with a swivel table.
It’s important to note that modules can be ordered at the time of the initial purchase and installed by Four Wheel Campers. Alternatively, modules can be flat-packed for DIY installation, or they can be ordered from a Four Wheel Campers dealer with professional installation assistance.
More Standard Features, Many Options Available
Standard features of the CampOut include a modular-design queen-size extended cabover bed with a mattress, a modern 12-volt power system with truck charging, and a 120-volt shore power system with a 30-amp converter. Additionally, it includes a DC power port for a Starlink Mini, interior 12-volt USB outlets and an accessory plug, and an exterior power panel with 120-volt and USB ports. To assist in carrying gear, the exterior of the CampOut has an L-track with MOLLE panels.
There are numerous options for the CampOut. These include a king-size bed slide for full-size models, a portable toilet, a roof rack, and entry steps. Additionally, there are rear LED floodlights, an eight-foot awning, two different camera setups, and an internal roof lift actuator.
