Polaris factory racer Brock Heger added another chapter to his growing legend in the desert this past weekend, capturing the overall victory at the 2026 Mint 400 and delivering Polaris its second consecutive win at one of off-road racing’s most prestigious events. Driving the RZR Pro R Factory, Heger not only beat the entire field in the Limited class but also made history by becoming the first side-by-side racer to complete the grueling 400-mile race in under seven hours.

Heger and co-driver Justin Wilson crossed the finish line with a remarkable time of 6:57:56, setting a new benchmark for side-by-side performance at the legendary Las Vegas desert race.

Polaris’ dominant showing didn’t stop there. Factory racer Mitch Guthrie Jr. finished second overall, while the RZR Pro R platform powered six of the top 10 finishers.

A Course Built For The RZR Pro R

The Mint 400 remains one of the most demanding races in American off-road motorsports. The 400-mile course is divided into four punishing 100-mile laps, and as hundreds of vehicles pound the terrain, the course quickly transforms into a brutal mix of deep ruts, rocks, and whoops.

It’s exactly the kind of environment where the RZR Pro R platform thrives. Despite rivals bringing their top racers and equipment in hopes of dethroning Polaris, the RZR Pro R Factory once again proved to be the benchmark.

Heger Sets The Pace From The Start

Heger set the tone early in the weekend, securing pole position during qualifying with a time 11 seconds faster than second place. Guthrie Jr. qualified fifth, Ronnie Anderson sixth, and Cayden MacCachren eighth.

When the green flag dropped, the opening lap brought unexpected challenges that temporarily set him back. Thanks to quick work from the RZR Factory Racing crew, he was able to regroup and push forward.

By the halfway point of lap two, Heger had clawed his way into second place, with MacCachren running fourth and Ethan Groom in ninth.

Record Pace To The Finish

Once Heger made the pass for the lead, he and Wilson never looked back. The duo maintained an aggressive pace across the battered desert course.

Meanwhile, Guthrie Jr. delivered a smooth and consistent performance in his RZR Pro R Factory to claim second overall. Groom fought through the brutal terrain to finish fourth, while MacCachren suffered a late-race issue but still managed a seventh-place finish.

Polaris racers Brayden Baker finished eighth, and Blake Wilkey rounded out the top 10.

Confidence Heading Into San Felipe

“It feels incredible to get another big win at the Mint 400,” said Heger. “We hit a few bumps early on in the race, but our RZR Factory Racing crew had everything sorted out quickly. From there, Justin and I just put our heads down and charged through. Our goal was a win, and that’s exactly what we accomplished. To finish this race in under seven hours as a Limited racer really shows the pace we were able to maintain all day. The competition was fierce, and the terrain of the Mint 400 is brutal, so this victory means a lot. The RZR Pro R Factory was unreal out there, its power, strength, and control made all the difference, letting us push hard and keep up the pace across the desert. We’re excited to carry this momentum into the San Felipe 250.”

Polaris leadership echoed the sentiment following another dominant showing.

“Despite a few challenges, the Heger and Pro R combination is unstoppable. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the team’s performance and the way we’re dominating the competition,” said Alex Scheuerell, Polaris’ Director of Off-Road Motorsports. “This level of success doesn’t happen by accident; every bolt, every pit stop, every detail is meticulously executed by the entire crew. A huge thank you to everyone involved.”

The RZR Factory Racing team won’t have long to celebrate. In just two weeks, they’ll head south for the San Felipe 250, the opening round of the SCORE World Desert Championship, scheduled for March 25–29, 2026.
