9/16/2016 – More Details Released
Late Thursday evening more details were released in the heartbreaking news of the passing of Robby Gordon’s parents.
“This is devastating,” Gordon said at a Thursday press conference. “He taught so many, and I want everyone to know what a good man he was.” Gordon was not the only one saddened by the news. Drivers, team members, and fans all took to social media to explain some of the found racing moments they enjoyed with Bob Gordon, nicknamed Baja Bob.
According to the sheriff department, it appears Bob Gordon died from injuries consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the results of an autopsy by the Orange County coroner’s office, while Sharon Gordon died from strangulation. The sheriff department is also treating the investigation as a murder-suicide.
“There’s no witnesses,” Lt. Fred Lopez of the Orange Police Department told the Orange County Register. “So that’s something we have to put together piecemeal. We have some ideas. But it’s all speculation. We’ll eventually come to a conclusion, but we may never really know why.”
