Arie Luyendyk Jr. returns to compete in the 2014 TORC (The Off Road Championship) series. This will be his second season of TORC racing after his excellent rookie season that saw him finish in fourth at the world famous Crandon off-road race course in Crandon, Wisconsin. Not a bad start for a road racer transitioning from formula cars.
He will be racing in the highly competitive Pro 2 class driving the #25 truck owned by Aero Motorsports and sponsored by GUNK, a brand of engine cleaner. Luyendyk Jr. had this to say about the upcoming season, “I can’t express how excited I am to climb back into a truck and compete in my first full season of TORC,” said Luyendyk Jr. “This year will be exciting because it’s my first taste of the 900+ horsepower Pro 2 truck. I’m definitely up for the challenge!”
Prior to TORC he competed in the Firestone Indy Lights Series. He also competed in 24 Hours of Daytona as well as 12 Hours of Sebring. Racing is in the Luyendyk family blood as his father is a two-time Indy 500 Champion. He will be competing in the Pro 2 field against the likes of hot shoes Rob MacCachren, CJ Greaves and Travis Pastrana.
