For years, Ford’s Super Duty lineup has lived at the intersection of brute strength and everyday utility. Whether it’s hauling equipment to remote job sites or towing massive trailers across the country, the heavy-duty Ford has long been the backbone of America’s working industries. But increasingly, owners expect these trucks to do more than just work. They want capability that stretches past the pavement—without sacrificing the functionality that made them buy a Super Duty in the first place.
For 2027, Ford is responding directly to those requests with a series of updates that dramatically expand the truck’s factory off-road capability while also broadening its appeal to enthusiasts and specialty users. The changes range from Tremor off-road hardware becoming available in more configurations than ever before, to a surprising new factory 35-inch tire package on the base XL trim. There’s even a luxury twist for the chassis cab crowd.
Taken together, the updates signal a clear shift: Super Duty isn’t just about the jobsite anymore—it’s about getting there no matter where “there” happens to be.

Tremor Now Reaches More Of The Lineup
Ford’s Tremor Off-Road Package has become one of the most recognizable factory upgrades in the heavy-duty truck world. Since its debut on Super Duty in 2020, it has delivered serious off-road capability straight from the showroom floor, complete with a factory lift, locking rear differential, skid plates, and aggressive 35-inch tires.
For 2027, Ford is dramatically expanding where buyers can get it.
The biggest news is that Tremor can now be paired with the STX Appearance Package on the XL trim, creating a much lower entry point into the off-road-focused configuration. That means buyers who want capability without stepping into higher trim levels can now get the same essential Tremor hardware—including 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, an electronic locking rear differential, Tremor-tuned suspension, Trail Control, Trail Turn Assist, and Rock Crawl Mode.
In other words, the Tremor recipe stays intact, but the barrier to entry drops. For truck owners who split their time between weekday work and weekend adventure, the configuration makes more sense than ever.
Ford says the move was driven by the way customers were already modifying their trucks—adding lifts, lockers, and larger tires to more affordable trims. Now those upgrades can be had directly from the factory, engineered and warrantied as part of the package.

The Long-Awaited Tremor Long Bed
If there’s one request Tremor owners have consistently made since the package launched, it’s this: give us the off-road hardware with the full eight-foot bed. For 2027, Ford finally delivers.
The Tremor Off-Road Package is now available on Crew Cab Super Duty models with the 176-inch wheelbase and 8-foot bed, a combination that dramatically expands the truck’s versatility. Buyers no longer have to choose between maximum cargo space and factory off-road capability.
That means the Tremor formula—35-inch tires, factory lift, locking rear differential, and terrain-focused drive modes—can now be paired with the largest bed in the Super Duty lineup.
The configuration is particularly appealing for buyers who actually use their trucks for more than recreation. Overlanders, contractors hauling gear, or owners towing large trailers can now keep the utility of a long box without giving up the off-road-ready stance.
Ford also pairs the setup with an available 48-gallon fuel tank, the largest offered on Super Duty, making the long-bed Tremor an especially compelling option for long-distance towing or backcountry travel.

A Factory 35-Inch Tire Package For The XL
Perhaps the most surprising change in the 2027 Super Duty lineup comes at the very bottom of the trim ladder.
The XL Off-Road Package has been popular since it debuted for buyers who wanted a rugged work truck without expensive cosmetic upgrades. For 2027, Ford is taking that concept a step further by introducing an XL Off-Road 35-Inch Tire Package.
Yes, that means you can now order a base XL Super Duty with factory 35-inch tires.
The package brings a serious hardware list with it: a factory ride-height increase via unique front springs, limited-slip front differential, electronic locking rear differential, performance shocks, and trail-focused systems like Trail Control, Trail Turn Assist, and Rock Crawl Mode. Skid plates protect the transfer case and fuel tank, and the truck rolls on 35-inch off-road tires mounted to 18-inch aluminum wheels.
Just as important, the exterior remains intentionally clean. There are no decals or branding—something many commercial fleets and government agencies specifically requested so they can apply their own graphics.
The existing XL Off-Road Package continues for 2027 as the renamed XL Off-Road 33-Inch Tire Package, effectively creating a two-tier off-road lineup within the base trim. Both packages can also be paired with the available Ford Performance 12,000-pound Warn winch.
For work trucks that regularly venture off pavement—from forestry crews to energy companies working in remote terrain—the factory-engineered setup removes the need for aftermarket modifications while preserving warranty coverage and factory integration.

Luxury Reaches The Chassis Cab
While much of the 2027 story revolves around off-road capability, Ford is also addressing another niche group of buyers—those investing serious money in specialty builds.
For the first time, the Platinum trim level will be available on Super Duty chassis cab models, including the F-350, F-450, and F-550.
Traditionally, chassis cab trucks have focused purely on utility. But owners building high-end overlanding rigs, luxury horse haulers, or professional motorsports transport trucks often spend six figures on the body mounted behind the cab.
Until now, the interior of the truck itself rarely matched the sophistication of the equipment attached to it.
The Platinum chassis cab changes that equation with premium leather seating, upscale interior appointments, and Ford’s SYNC 4 infotainment system with enhanced voice recognition.

The Evolution Of A Heavy-Duty Icon
Ford’s Super Duty has long been defined by numbers—towing ratings, payload capacity, torque figures. Those metrics still matter, but the 2027 updates show the lineup evolving in a different direction as well.
Customers increasingly want trucks that can move seamlessly between work and adventure. They want factory capability that once required expensive aftermarket upgrades. And they want more freedom to configure their trucks exactly how they need them.
Order banks for the 2027 Super Duty are expected to open in May, with additional details and pricing arriving closer to launch.
