2026 GMC Sierra EV AT4: The Electric Truck You’ve Been Waiting For?

If you’ve been eyeballing GMC’s new Sierra EV pickup truck but have been held back by the lack of an off-road package, this news will interest you. Starting with the 2026 model, the company will offer its all-electric truck in the AT4 trim.

The 2026 GMC Sierra EV AT4 features a taller ride height than its siblings, among other functional bits.

What Is GMC’s AT4 Package, Exactly?

AT4 (an acronym for All-Terrain 4WD) is GMC’s off-road package. It debuted with the 2019 Sierra 1500 and has since been expanded to several truck and SUV models, including the Canyon, Sierra HD, and Yukon. The content of the AT4 package varies by model, but generally, it includes features that enhance off-road capability, offer specific styling elements, and provide bundled options.

GMC says the AT4 can be equipped to tow up to 12,300 pounds.

Taller Ride Height, Improved Off-Road Capability

The GMC Sierra EV AT4 features a ride height that is two inches taller than that of a non-AT4 Sierra EV. We contacted GMC for more information on the increased ride height, and the company told us that one inch of the lift is generated by the AT4’s coil springs, while the other inch comes from the larger 35-inch tires. This increased height will help provide more off-road-friendly approach, departure, and ramp-over angles than a non-AT4 truck, though no detailed specifications were included in the press release. GMC provided a photo of the AT4 next to the new Elevation model (we’ll get to that model in a moment), and to us, it appears that the AT4-specific front fascia doesn’t hang as low as the fascia on the Elevation, which may help increase the approach angle as well. It’s also worth noting that the Sierra EV AT4 includes front tow hooks, whereas the Elevation does not.

An AT4-exclusive Forest Storm interior is another feature that differentiates the model from its siblings.

Trim-Exclusive Terrain Mode

GMC says, “… AT4 will feature the sophisticated and trim-exclusive Terrain Mode, designed to provide maximum maneuverability, torque, and precise control off-road, and integrated with one-pedal drive and automatic braking. Terrain Mode combines GM’s legendary off-road truck know-how with the latest software advancements to deliver cutting-edge capability.” We asked the company if Terrain Mode would be a standalone feature, and we were told that it will be one of many drive modes available in the Sierra EV AT4. GMC said it will share more information on the feature’s exact functionality as the vehicle gets closer to launch.

On that note, like all Sierra EV trucks, the AT4 features e4WD, which refers to its electronic four-wheel-drive system that utilizes two electric motors, one front and one rear.

CrabWalk And Super Cruise Are Standard

Two major features are included as standard equipment on the Sierra EV AT4. One is CrabWalk, GMC’s exclusive four-wheel steering. This feature allows the driver to move the vehicle diagonally to avoid obstacles and perform multi-point turns. It enables the rear wheels to turn at the same angle as the front wheels, up to 10 degrees in either direction. With CrabWalk engaged, the vehicle can be driven diagonally at speeds below 20 mph. We believe this would be a welcome feature on the trail, especially when navigating tight switchbacks, such as those on Colorado’s Black Bear Road above Bridal Veil Falls.

Another major feature included on the AT4 is Super Cruise. On paved roads, “under the proper conditions,” Super Cruise provides hands-free driving. To achieve this, it works with OnStar and LiDAR map data, in addition to real-time cameras, sensors, and GPS.

Exclusive Interior, Many Options

Other features of the Sierra EV AT4 include a red-illuminated GMC front badge and an AT4-exclusive Forest Storm interior. Options abound, including the MultiPro MidGate expandable bed, 800-volt DC public fast-charging capability up to 350 kW, and the 10.2 kW Energy Transfer Pro off-board power system, which includes 240- and 120-volt outlets in the truck’s bed. Additionally, the truck can be outfitted to tow up to 12,300 pounds.

The Sierra EV AT4 comes with an extended-range battery as standard equipment, while a max-range battery is optional. The MSRP for the AT4 Extended Range starts at $81,395, including the destination charge. The AT4 Max Range has a starting MSRP of $91,695, including delivery charges.

Elevation Is The Most Affordable 2026 Sierra EV

There are also two other trim levels of the 2026 Sierra EV. One is the Elevation, which has a base MSRP of $64,495, including delivery charges, for the Standard Range model. An Extended Range model is also available, with a starting MSRP of $72,695, including delivery charges. The Elevation is the most affordable trim in the Sierra EV lineup but comes equipped with a variety of features. These include the MultiPro tailgate, 18-inch wheels, and the After Dark interior package. Additionally, it offers the eTrunk with a power-operated hood and a 16.8-inch diagonal center touchscreen.

Top-Of-The-Line Sierra EV Denali

The top-of-the-line Sierra EV Denali has several package options and three battery choices. The Standard Range model has a starting MSRP of $71,795 including delivery charges; the Extended Range model starts at $79,995 MSRP, including delivery charges; and the Max Range model ventures into eye-popping six-figure MSRP territory at $100,695 including delivery charges.

GMC says that range estimates for the various trims and battery configurations will be available closer to the vehicle’s launch date.

GMC: “The Sierra EV Is A Real Truck…”

Jaclyn McQuaid, Global Vice President, Buick GMC notes to doubters that the Sierra EV is a real truck. “With these additional trims and customer options, the Sierra EV is positioned right in the heart of the premium truck market. The combination of Elevation, AT4, and Denali represent the most popular expressions of Sierra, accounting for more than 2 out of 3 of all Sierra light-duty sales. The result is a compelling all-electric lineup for those customers looking for cutting-edge technology, capability and refinement. The Sierra EV is a real truck that does real truck things, matched with EV performance and advanced tech. With the expansion of the line-up, we can’t wait to get more customers behind the wheel.”

Colors And Availability

Finally, the 2026 GMC Sierra EV is available in a variety of colors, including Summit White, Glacier White Tri-Coat Metallic, Coastal Dune, and Deep Bronze Metallic. Additional options include Magnus Matte, Thunderstorm Gray Metallic, and Dark Ember Metallic. We’re digging the sound of Coastal Dune, though Deep Bronze Metallic is a close second.

The truck is expected to arrive at dealers this summer. Is it the Sierra EV you’ve been waiting for?
