Sometimes it’s nice to step back and look at the bigger picture. That is exactly what Toyo Tires took the time to do at the 2019 Off-Road Expo in Pomona, California. Their huge display area combined 25+ display vehicles from all walks of the off-road life. Toyo came to celebrate the extended off-road family that makes their way on the Open Country line.
The most recent addition to the Open Country line is the Open Country SxS. As of now, the SxS is available in 32/9.5Rx15 size. It is intended as a performance upgrade for the sport and super sport UTV class from all the manufacturers. The bruise and abrasion-resistant sidewall offers extra grip in all types of terrain. Having already proven itself during the NORRA Mexican 1000, the SxS has earned its place as another race-winning tire in the Open Country line.
For the overlander vehicles, a mix of the AT2 and R/T lines were the tires of choice. Featuring a balance to perform on- and off-road, the AT2’s wear-resistant tread compound is a great choice for those racking up the miles. The all-season rating will also ensure tough performance across a range of terrain and conditions. A quiet ride is another one of the signature benefits that Toyo boasts about the line.
The more aggressive R/T line takes the dual-purpose tires from Toyo a step farther in the off-road capability segment. These tires feature a more aggressive tread pattern than the A/T lines, but still maintain some on-road manners. R/T series tires also provide more sidewall protection for rockier terrain, with a high turn-up and three-ply sidewall for when the trail gets heavier. Overall, both tires are very capable choices for time spent on the highway or after the pavement ends.
When it came to the full-on race vehicles and wilder show vehicles, the M/T was the tire of choice. Boasting the most aggressive tread pattern design in the lineup, this is the go-to tire for extreme needs. This line has been around long enough now to secure its name in all types of environments. With wins in just about every type of off-road competition out there, the Open Country M/T is all about aggressive performance and style to match.
To give people a chance to get more than just a look at the line, an Open Country-equipped Jeep was part of the Jeep Experience offered at Off-Road Expo. Guests were treated to a ride-along across a variety of terrains, including dirt inclines, gravel, and a boulder field. Overall, Toyo put on a great showing at Off-Road Expo. With a huge variety of vehicles on site, it was a great way to celebrate the Open Country family.
