This might get some of our more hardcore readers fired up, but we here at Offroad Xtreme actually find the 2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk to be a pretty cool little rig. While it is not a substitute to a purpose built off roader, nor is it marketed as such, the Trailhawk really does serve a specific niche within the off road industry for someone that is looking to have a compliant daily driver while also having capabilities to venture off where the asphalt ends should the situation arrive.
The all new Renegade platform is a rather large risk for Jeep as it is not targeted at the hardcore off roader, nor is it targeted at the city-only driver looking to own something with the “Jeep” name on it, like the Compass. With its 180 hp 2.4-liter Tigershark I4, five-mode (for the Trailhawk) Selec-Terrain 4×4 traction management system, and acceptable price point right around $25,000, the Renegade Trailhawk is poised to be a nice little daily driver that offers versatility and some off road capability.
What’s more, the truck also serves as a little bit of insight into the Jeep brand and their less-than-corporate mindset as they have added some hidden styling cues into the truck that are designed to ignite passion within owners. From defrost vents that look like the signature Jeep grille to molded trail map styling on some of the interior dash pieces, the Trailhawk is surprisingly cool and looks to be a fun little truck!
Time will tell whether or not the 2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk will be a hit with the general public in the sales department, but we feel it has a fighting chance!
