Chevrolet has announced some features and debuted the design of its 2015 Tahoe and Suburban SUVs. Both SUVs will come with the 5.3L V8 standard. Making 350 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque, the engine features direct injection, cylinder deactivation, continuously variable valve timing, and an advanced combustion system. The engine uses GM’s Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission, that has TapShift control, a Tow/Haul mode, and Auto Grade Braking.

The Tahoe has a maximum tow rating of 8,500 pounds in 2wd models, and 8,300 pounds in 4wd models. The Suburban has an 8,300 pound-capacity in 2wd and an 8,000 pound-capacity in 4wd models. The Suburban has an 8,300 pound-capacity in 2wd and an 8,000 pound-capacity in 4wd models.

The LTZ models include third-generation magnetic ride control that dampens the ride and delivers more precise body motion control. Eighteen-inch standard wheels are a half-inch wider than previous models, to reduce tire flex for improved cornering performance. Both 20 and 22-inch wheels are also available.

A new, electric variable-assist power steering system enhances fuel economy and tailors steering assist to vehicle speed. In addition, a new four-wheel-disc brake system with Duralife brake rotors provide up to double the service life, along with brake pedal revisions that improve pedal feel for stronger-feeling, more-confident braking performance.

The 2015 Tahoe and Suburban SUVs will offer an interior that features fold-flat second and third-row seating for enhanced cargo convenience, with power-folding as an optional. The new SUVs will now have two more inches of leg room for second row passengers and more room to enter and exit the vehicles.

The vehicles will also have an available eight-inch color touch screen radio with the next-generation MyLink connectivity, and six USB ports and six power outlets. It will also include a 110-volt three-prong outlet. But only the Suburban will come with an available rear-seat entertainment system featuring dual screens and Blu-ray DVD player.

Chevrolet also added some security features to the Tahoe and Suburban. These include new window break-in or glass-break sensors, as well as vertical-movement and interior movement sensors. Along with triggering the vehicles’ alarm systems, some of the features shut down important control systems to make it almost impossible to start or move the vehicles.

Tahoe and Suburban don’t share sheet-metal with their Chevy pickup truck brethren. New inlaid doors fit into the body side openings to provide better aerodynamics and less wind noise. A lightweight aluminum hood and lift gate panels offer efficiency through reduced overall mass. Projector-beam headlamps are standard, while high-intensity discharge headlamps, and light-emitting diode daytime running lamps are included on the up level LTZ model.

We look forward to getting our hands on these as soon as they are released to media for testing so Off Road Xtreme can give you the down and dirty on how they perform!
