When a lot of us think about the 10 most important things to take four-wheeling, items such as a beverage, snacks, and a cooler are top of mind. Or depending upon your destination, a camera and tripod may be on your list. If it’s a romantic interlude, a blanket to lay on the ground once you have reached a cozy destination is probably in your thoughts as well.
We can think of dozens upon dozens of what we would call off-roading essentials, but you could fill the entire vehicle with gear before that list would be complete. There are some items that are really good to have depending upon the terrain you expect to encounter, the number of people you have onboard the vehicle, the length of the trip to be taken, and whether it’s a overnight trip or just a day run.
You certainly want to bring plenty of water of food for all passengers and the driver, and to begin the voyage with a full tank of fuel. A full spare fuel can is always a good idea, too, just in case the trip turns out to be longer than expected.
Other items such as communication equipment like cell phones, CB radios, or a two-meter band radio that can reach much farther than a CB and is not reliant upon cell phone towers for communication with the outside world in an emergency situation are a good idea too.
But what are some of the most basic things you should equip your truck or 4×4 with prior to venturing into the backwoods? Well, Extreme Terrain compiled a list of items we find hard to argue with titled 10 Essential Items to Have in Your Jeep While Off-Road.
The list includes some of the most important items you should have in and on your rig before you get off the pavement, and where to find them. Check it out before you head out on your next trail ride!
