Enthusiasts crave more punch when they step on the gas, and Full Speed 6G brought that vision to life with a Velocity Blue 2021 Ford Bronco. With 67,000 miles and a seven-speed manual transmission, this rig recently hit the Dynojet rollers to show exactly what a tuned 2.3-liter four-cylinder block can do with the right modifications.

Bolting On Serious Airflow

Preparing a turbocharged engine for extra boost requires a massive improvement in breathing capability, so the owner started by installing a GPE ported intake manifold and throttle body. Since keeping the air cold is crucial, an Injen intake pulls fresh oxygen down through CVFab charge pipes and an intercooler. While an MBRP exhaust channels spent gases out the rear, a TurboSmart valve and a UPR catch can work together to keep the internal systems clean.

Dialing In The Tuned 2.3-Liter Bronco

Getting these upgraded parts working in harmony fell to Ryan Martin, who used an HP Tuners interface to craft custom maps. Although the team planned to record data in fourth gear for a direct ratio, the factory speed limiter forced it to execute pulls in third gear instead. After establishing a baseline, Martin flashed a 93-octane map, which delivered a modest 30 horsepower gain but instantly added nearly 80 foot-pounds of torque.

Hitting The Sweet Spot On Ethanol

Switching to an E30 ethanol blend is where this Bronco truly shines, revealing the potential hiding inside the block. Pushing the limits safely, the numbers skyrocketed to 329 wheel horsepower and 418 foot-pounds of torque, creating a wild experience whenever the driver dumps the clutch. Gaining 115 foot-pounds over the stock tune acts as the perfect stopping point, because staying just under the 420 limit keeps the factory engine safe.

Building A Capable Manual Rig

Matching that aggressive output with proper styling creates a daily driver that stands out on any trail. This rig looks stunning sitting on Hoss suspension, easily clearing Sasquatch wheels and 35-inch Goodyear tires. Finishing off the aesthetic, the owner added Raptor headlights and a Turn Offroad bumper. Sending Raptor-level power through a manual transmission makes navigating rocky trails an absolute blast, proving that an expertly tuned 2.3-liter Bronco never needs a massive engine to conquer demanding terrain.
