From the factory, the 2024 Jeep Wrangler 392 is already a trail-blazing beast. Its 6.4-liter HEMI V8 roars with 470 horsepower and an equal dose of torque. But for real off-roaders, stock is just a starting point. The skilled craftsmen at MPA Motorsports & Off-Road in Farmington Hills, Michigan, transformed this Wrangler from “factory fast” and turned it into “trail dominator,” with a suite of upgrades tailored for ultimate off-road performance and adventure-ready style.
Let’s dive into the details of what makes this Wrangler the ultimate in no just style but trail performance as well.
Improved Suspension Jeep Wrangler 392: Control Meets Capability
As it sits, Jeep’s Wrangler 392 comes fit with a 2-inch taller suspension than a standard Wrangler Rubicon along with Fox monotube dampers. Aiming to improve upon the already superb ride quality, MPA Motorsports & Off-Road opted to install a Rock Krawler Suspension 3.5-inch Ultimate Adventure 392 Mid-Arm kit. This system is completely bolt-on, features triple-rate coil springs along with spring correction seats, the company’s “No Limits” sway bar kit, and adjustable track bars.
Paired with the lift are RRD 2.25-inch IFP dampers. These shocks feature a 2.25-inch shock body that is hard anodized and fluted for improved cooling. Shafts a ¾-inch stainless-steel and are hard chrome plated. They also feature billet aluminum valve circuits and components along with dual DU shaft bearings and double-redundant sealing.
Up front, steering stability is dialed in with a Falcon JL 2.2 Fast Adjust Steering Dampener, helping the Jeep stay steady at speed and composed through rough terrain. Whether bombing down fire roads or crawling at a snail’s pace, this combo delivers pinpoint control.
Rolling Deep: Rugged Off-Road Tires & Wheels
While the Jeep Wrangler 392’s standard 35-inch BFGoodrich T/A KO2 tires are good enough for most applications, there are times when bigger is better. Though the high-clearance fenders and Rock Krawler suspension offered room for up to 40-inch-tall tires, the team at MPA Motorsports & Off-Road opted for a more driveline-friendly 37-inch upgrade. Mounted at all four corners are 37×12.5R17 Nitto Trail Grappler M/T tires, the gold standard for aggressive tread, excellent mud clearing, and stout sidewall protection. These are wrapped around 17×9-inch KMC GRS wheels, striking the perfect balance between ruggedness and race-inspired design. An upgraded spare tire mount from TeraFlex locates the larger rubber on the rear tailgate. The setup screams capability, with a stance that fills the fenders and commands attention on any trail.
High-Performance LED Lighting: Turn Night Into Day
When the sun dips below the horizon, this Jeep flips the switch to daylight mode. Leading the charge is a KC HiLites Gravity 6 Light Bar. This 50-inch roof-mounted light bar features eight of KC HiLites’ Gravity Pro 6 LED lights. Complementing the roof-mounted light bar are a pair of Baja Designs LP6 ditch lights, which are mounted on CMM Off-Road A-pillar mounts. The Wrangler also features a Baja Designs S8 20-inch front bumper-mounted light bar. The combination creates a wide, far-reaching lighting field perfect for nighttime trail runs.
For more targeted lighting, the build includes four Baja Designs Squadron SAE lights and two reverse-mounted Squadrons, ensuring visibility front and rear in any condition. Diode Dynamics rock lights complete the setup, throwing light into wheel wells and underbody areas when crawling after dark. All lighting is controlled via an sPod JL 392 BantamX system, keeping wiring clean and controls intuitive.
Exterior Armor: Bodyguard Mode Engaged
A beast like this needs armor to match. Up front and in back, Addictive Desert Designs Stealth Fighter bumpers add aggressive protection with a premium, angular style. They’re engineered for clearance and strength—essential for serious off-roading.
DV8 Spec Series fender flares and DV8 aluminum inner fenders provide both wheel coverage and under-fender protection, designed to shrug off debris and trail damage without adding unnecessary weight.
Bring The Noise: Jeep Wrangler 392 Trail-Ready Engine Enhancements
Under the hood and beyond, performance and utility are bolstered with smart additions. A Borla Atak Cat Back Exhaust gives the HEMI a throatier bark to match its bite. The Borla exhaust system features the company’s SwitchFire Technology and Dual-Mode valves to retain the Jeep Wrangler 392’s optional “polite neighbor mode.” The system utilizes 3-inch diameter tubing with 4-inch tips and the entire muffler assembly comes coasted in a black high-temperature finish.
A cold-air intake from S&B Filters optimizes airflow for improved throttle response and sound. The kit comes with a fully enclosed airbox that protects the filter from rocks and dirt while also keeping engine heat at bay. In S&B’s testing this intake kit flowed 26.05-percent better than the factory unit. The S&B Filters Wrangler 392 intake also works with the Jeep’s integrated hood scoop, providing a tight seal to the vehicle’s Hydro Guide hood.
Help A Buddy Out: Recovery Gear And More
Trail emergencies and tire inflation needs are covered with an ARB Twin On-Board Compressor, neatly tucked away using a M.O.R.E compressor mount. Recovery gear includes robust Warn Epic ¾” shackles, because getting stuck isn’t the problem—getting out is.
Jeep Wrangler 392 V8 Power + Rock-Ready DNA = One Amazing Wrangler
The 2024 Jeep Wrangler 392 is a rare breed already, but this wild build by MPA Motorsports & Off-Road pushes it into a class of its own. Every upgrade is purpose-driven, adding capability without sacrificing the spirit of adventure. It’s built for those who refuse to compromise, whether that means taking on the Rubicon, the red rocks of Moab, or the backwoods of Baja.
