The 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor is a beast. The midsize truck comes with an array of performance modifications, including longer and stronger front A-arms, Fox 2.5-inch dampers (internal bypass up front and remote-reservoir units out back), and front and rear electronic differential lockers. Additionally, the truck boasts 10.1 inches of front wheel travel and 11.3 inches of rear travel. Under the hood is a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 that cranks out a respectable 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.
For some, the Ranger Raptor’s baked-in off-road-ready goodness is enough, but for others, it’s simply a foundation for a broader build. Which brings us to this Ranger Raptor, which has been outfitted for overlanding. An overlanding Ranger Raptor? Well, why not?
Front Suspension Lift, 35-Inch Tires, Beefy Bumpers, And More
To improve this Ranger Raptor’s off-road prowess, a Foutz Motorsports 1.5-inch spring collar lift kit was installed. The kit uses an under-spring spacer that mounts to each shock body under the spring perch. In addition to providing lift, it adds extra preload to the stock spring. Additionally, the kit allows the Fox Live Valve shocks to be retained. Thanks to the additional lift, the truck’s factory 33-inch-diameter tires could be discarded in favor of larger 35-inch-diameter Firestone Destination M/T2 tires. The larger tires are mounted to a set of Method Race Wheels. Underbody protection was also addressed with an array of Rival 4×4 aluminum skidplates. The company offers a wide range of underbody protection for the Ranger Raptor, including engine, transmission, transfer case, and fuel tank skidplates.
Addictive Desert Designs Phantom steel bumpers protect each end of the Ranger Raptor. The front bumper’s feature list includes several mounting options for aftermarket lighting. It also has a skidplate with air vents to ensure proper ventilation to the intercooler and radiator. The rear bumper is low-profile, has recovery points, and includes a pair of 3-inch cube light mounts. Both the front and rear bumpers are fitted with KC Lights’ FLEX ERA LED lights.
Overlanding And Recovery Modifications
Overlanding, by its very nature, requires gear. To assist with carrying the necessary items, the truck is fitted with a Front Runner Outfitters Pro Bed Rack Kit and a Slimsport Roof Rack Kit. The Pro Bed Rack Kit is a modular storage solution that is perfect for overlanding. It has steel and aluminum construction, making it lightweight, and it can secure handy Pro Bed accessories. The Slimsport Roof Rack Kit is low-profile and has mounting provisions for a 40-inch lightbar. Other components include Front Runner’s Pro Ski, Snowboard & Fishing Rod Carrier, Pro Bed Rack Headache MOLLE Panels, and IP66-rated Typhoon Bags. Additionally, Front Runner’s foldable Expander Camping Chairs, steel Rack Handle Brackets with integrated floodlights, and a padded Rack Pad Set for carrying items like kayaks and skis. Furthermore, a handy Pro Stainless Steel Prep Table Kit is included for food preparation and related activities.
Other features in the Ranger Raptor’s overlanding arsenal include a two-person Front Runner Flip Pop Tent, a Cub Pack storage container (for hauling recovery gear), and a water tank. There is also a Dometic Patrol insulated ice chest, a CFX electric cooler/freezer, and a GO Hydration Water Jug. Finally, there’s a set of MaxTrax Traction Boards to assist with recoveries and a MORRFlate multi-tire inflation and deflation kit.
Built By Front Runner Outfitters
This multi-faceted 2024 Ranger Raptor was built by Front Runner Outfitters. The company is said to have originated in Botswana, around a campfire, by a group of friends with experience in engineering, design, manufacturing, and off-road racing. The goal of the group was to create new, strong gear for vehicle-based adventure travel. The company used the African bush as its testing ground, and the result is a line of products that has earned the company a reputation for quality. The company’s manufacturing facility is near Johannesburg, South Africa, and its features include in-house laser cutting, bending, and powdercoating.
