Have you ever installed a brand new alternator in your vehicle and admired how nice it looks in the engine bay, but after a couple of days it looks like an old beat-up alternator? We have too. Most of this comes down to the finish of the alternator housing. Tuff Stuff has been developing some alternator housings for GM and Ford trucks that have a really nice finish so that your alternator will look brand new for much longer.

“It’s a great finish. It gives you the factory look, but you know how you put a new alternator on and three days later it looks old. This finish we put on it, it retains the factory look, but it stays looking beautiful forever. If you get some dirt or grease on it you can wipe it off with a rag and a little water and it’ll look brand new again. It was a trial and error on specific coatings that could handle the extremes of a Cleveland, Ohio winter,” said Tim Andrews at the SEMA Tuff Stuff booth.

Obviously, if you’re an off-road guy, you can imagine how nice this will be. After going out wheeling, your engine bay is often filthy, but with some water and rag you can make your alternator look brand new again. This product is available for almost all late model GM trucks and a lot of the late model Ford trucks, as well. Looking at a comparison of the Factory Cast Plus finish next to a standard finish, you can really see a massive difference in how it looks.
