Off Road Xtreme is always on the lookout for new enterprising off-road endeavors. We recently were invited out to an open house / rigs and coffee event at Adventure Off-Road’s location in Tustin, California. After attending the function, checking out the rides, entering the free raffle, mingling with the off-road enthusiast, smacking up a breakfast burrito and sipping some bean water, we sat down with Adventure Off-Road proprietor Dan Fresh to learn more about his operation.
Specializing in off-road performance parts and installation, Adventure Off-Road services overlanders, trail rigs, lifted trucks, jeeps, 4x4s, and prerunners too. They sell and install everything from wheels, tires, shocks, lights, lift kits, suspension systems, bumpers, armor, winches, performance equipment, gear, and more.
After opening their doors in 2019, Adventure Off-Road has grown to four locations. With over 260 builds completed in their portfolio, they have become a staple of the off-road community in the greater Southern California area.
Adventure Off-Road On The Trail
After a customer has invested to have their ultimate dream off-roader built by professionals, it does not end there. Adventure Off-Road organizes trail runs just about every month. This operation will build out your rig, and then take you out to show you how to use it safely and properly. Adventure Off-Road currently holds the title for largest organized jeep run in the history of Johnson Valley, California with just over 200 vehicles. These runs are free and at no cost to participants but they do have a registration sign up form on their website.
Besides the shops and trail runs, Adventure Off-Road has been busy hosting Rigs and Coffee events and now Burgers and Builds gathering alternating at their different locations.

The first operation was built out of Huntington Beach, then Tustin, then Anaheim and now another operation being run out of Chino Hills which are all open for business. Each shop does have a waiting list and are usually booked out three months in advance.
Adventure Off-Road works closely with the local auto dealerships in each of their areas. In fact, every location is strategically positioned next to or actually within auto mall properties. Dan explained, “We can do a lot of comprehensive jobs and upgrades that your 4WP does not do or your ORW will not want to do. Beyond that, we work with these dealerships to upsell their customers and offer true warranties on these off-road components and installs.”

Fresh continued, “We offer all of the industries latest and greatest, but we are not tied to any brands. It is all about what the customer wants and advising them along the way. The bottom line is we are building relationships with our clientele based on quality and customer service. We want them to enjoy the experience so they come back time after time and vehicle after vehicle.”
Adventure Off-Road In The Shop
The Adventure Off-Road’s Tustin location features eight shop bays, and seven lifts. There are four full time technicians and two counter guys. The entire facility is four thousand square feet with a large showroom and lobby, five offices, and a customer lounge.
After visiting the open house back in June, we arranged to have the crew help us with a Centerforce clutch install on a 2012 Jeep JK Wrangler. Feel free to click over and read about the step by step installation procedure and the vehicle owners feedback.
The keys to success, which Dan has learned through practice, is to surround yourself with a good team made up of good people, and give them good support to do a quality job the right way the first time. Perhaps Fresh has learned a thing or two about success and teamwork through his lengthy career in motorsports.
Dan Fresh The Racer
Like many, Dan Fresh’s off-road career started on two-wheels. Racing a dirt bike provided him the fundamentals of rapidly reading terrain at speed which would help him down the road in his future racing endeavors. He quickly moved up the ranks to pro level and raced in the Mickey Thompson Ultracross series at the Los Angeles Coliseum. In his first pro race he made it into the main event. This would ignite the fire inside Dan Fresh to pursue off-road as a legitimate career.
Fresh began racing Supercross on the west coast and earned himself a Pro Support program from Yamaha. After the turmoil of injuries that chase moto pros, like many two-wheeled racers, Dan found himself experimenting in four-wheel racing divisions.
Since then Fresh has raced in a variety of classes and disciplines which includes desert racing in a 6100 Spec Trophy Truck to Rock Racing at King of the Hammers. In 2018, Dan took home the King of The Hammers Every Man Challenge overall win. In 2019, Fresh came back with a mission being the first ever to race all three classes KOH has to offer. That year Dan scored a 2nd place finish in the 4500 class at KOH, and 1st place victories at the Ultra4Racing Stampede, Clash at Cross Bar and El Rey De Las Baja’s. He took home 2nd in Ridgecrest and 3rd at the Ultra4Racing Nationals in Reno scoring him the National Championship title as well as the Western Championship title in the 4500 class. This means Fresh never once finished off the podium during the 2019 Ultra 4 season.
Premium Accolades And Hardware!
Dan has also proven to be an effective desert racer with an outstanding track record in SCORE-International Baja racing. In 2019, Fresh earned a 3rd place podium in the Trophy Truck Spec class at the Baja 1000 and 1st in a 7F Savvy Jeep Gladiator at the Baja 400.
His first Baja racing effort started with a 5/1600 modified Volkswagen bug. He quickly climbed to the podium and then moved on to the mini truck classes winning multiple races including the Baja 500 and Baja 1000. This effort propelled him to win back to back SCORE championships during that period. These impressive victories would lead to Fresh securing a Factory Mitsubishi program in the very competitive Stock Mini class racing against the factory backed Toyota, Hummer, and Honda programs. With restricted rules and close competition, Fresh delivered Mitsubishi’s first North American Off-Road win in over 20 years. Dan also won the Baja 1000 UTV N/A class in 2017.
Fresh is a versatile racer with determination to succeed. His Adventure Off-Road shop appears to be super successful as well. Off-Road Xtreme just may be knocking on the door in the future when we need assistance with our project vehicles.
