Managing a 40,000-pound vehicle takes more than just a standard socket set. Tyler Fever knows this better than anyone as he dives back into WhistlinDiesel’s double-engine giant. Working solo in the shop, he set out to completely overhaul the Monstermax suspension. He swapped the old setup for massive new shocks that can actually support the weight of the world’s most ridiculous pickup.

Heavy Metal Fabrication
Tyler started with a CAD model to verify clearance before sparking the torch. He utilized a plasma cutter to slice through a 3/4-inch steel plate and maxed out his machine in the process. Tyler admitted, “If I would have had these laser-cut, it would have saved a lot of work, but it was cool to be able to do it in-house.” To keep everything aligned during the weld, he used a threaded rod to space the brackets. He was specific about the hardware, too. Tyler explained, “This is called a properly shanked bolt.” He wanted to ensure the smooth section of the bolt bore the load rather than the threads.

Installing The Monstermax Suspension
The sheer scale of these parts became obvious once the paint gun came out. Tyler joked, “You ain’t got a real truck if your shock mounts don’t take five cans of spray paint.” After muscling the new 4.5-inch shocks into place, he filled them with pure nitrogen to lift the chassis to ride height. The new geometry was a major focus for him. Tyler noted, “I love that we went wider with them and angled them a little bit more.” The new stance not only improves function but gives the truck a much more aggressive look.

Shaking Down the Beast
With the shocks holding air and the brake chambers swapped for less sensitivity, Tyler took the rig for a drive. The difference was night and day as he navigated the terrain. Tyler exclaimed, “It ripped up that hill.” The 40,000-pound machine handled the incline with surprising ease. Tyler added, “It’s like driving a normal truck.” The dual engines and transmissions synced up perfectly and proved the new setup could handle the abuse.

Engineering The Future
This upgrade is just the first step in stabilizing the top-heavy build. Tyler teased a patent-pending anti-roll system he is currently developing to solve the body roll issues. He explained, “Our goal with this system is to use an outside force to an active force on the truck to keep it level.” This ambitious Monstermax suspension update proves that keeping this giant upright takes some serious mad science.
