GMC Sierra 1500 is one of the best-selling nameplates in the full-size pickup segment. With the 2022 model year receiving a much-needed update they also added the GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X into the mix. The ensemble now gets new updated exteriors and interiors. The 2022 Sierra 1500 is available in two trims which include Sierra Denali Ultimate, and Sierra AT4X. Denali Ultimate is the luxurious variant, while the AT4X is the more capable off-roader.
The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X is powered by a 6.2-liter L87 V8 gasoline engine, which produces 420 HP of maximum power and 460 lb-ft of peak torque. A two-speed transfer case is also part of the package, and the motor comes mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Multiple driving modes are also on offer.
The AT4X’s drivetrain has been upgraded with front and rear e-locking differentials. Another nifty addition is a steel transfer case skid plate, which protects the greasy bits of the truck. The trailer rating for AT4X is 8,900 pounds, while the payload capacity is rated at 1,420 pounds.
GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X Features
The GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X rides on a set of black 18-inch wheels, which are wrapped in 265/70R18 Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac Mud-Terrain tires, GMC also offers a rocker guard accessory. The interiors of the 2022 Sierra 1500 AT4X have also received a major update.
The cabin gets a unique “Obsidian Rush” interior treatment, which adds premium leather upholstery to the interiors with its Contrasting red stitching and white piping. The interiors also get an ash wood trim that goes excellently with the black interiors.
To top it off, GMC also adds 16-way power-adjustable and massaging front seats, a 15-inch Head-Up Display, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, and a microsuede headliner. The pick-up trucks are slated to arrive in the first quarter of 2022. Prices of the GMC AT4X start at $74,995.
