Over the course of the past few years, we’ve reveled in how the Lucas Oil off-road Racing Series has evolved. Known for its gravel-throwing, ramp-launching, bumper-smashing approach to wheel-to-wheel dirt racing, this event is without question the world’s premier short-course off-road racing series. Kicking off 2019 in gut-wrenching fashion, the Lucas Oil off-road Racing Series returns to San Bernardino’s Glen Helen Raceway on Saturday, March 16th, this time for a night packed with off-road insanity.
Commonly known as “the off-road Mecca of Southern California,” but officially referred to as the General Tire SoCal Shootout, this fiercely competitive track event tests the grit of some of the most talented off-road racers on the planet right out the gate. Tucked within the foothills of San Bernardino, the historic Glen Helen Raceway features some of the nation’s top off-road track attributes, making it a proving ground for outdoor motorsports teams for over 30 years.
That said, it’s befitting that the Lucas Oil off-road Racing Series plans to kick off the entire series here, marking the first time in history that it has done so at this venue. Over the course of the evening, a variety of different classes of trucks and buggies are slated to compete against one another in various kinds of challenging terrain. Being that the SoCal Shootout will be a nighttime showcase, attendees will also get to see these 900-horsepower trucks illuminated by bright lights, as sparks fly beneath southern California night skies. Tickets can be obtained by visiting lucasoiloffroad.com, and gates open at 4pm the day of the event.
