Australian Formula 1 Driver Daniel Ricciardo Off-Roading The Outback

In advance of the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo is welcomed back to Red Bull with an off-track road trip across the continent. Oracle Red Bull Racing has produced a series of road trip videos and the latest installment features Daniel Ricciardo’s RB7 in a wild coast-to-coast tour tearing up the outback across some of Australia’s most challenging terrain and iconic locations. Of course, the car is fitted with very aggressive off-road looking tires!

The Oracle Red Bull Racing Road Trip videos are known for being jovial promotions of the team, the drivers, the cars, team partners, and an event that is spotlighted by iconic locations. This action highlight is similar and showcases Ricciardo’s home country. But there is also an interesting revelation that showcases the sophistication of the championship-winning organization. Oracle Red Bull Racing runs various tests to ensure Daniel and the RB7 are ready for the upcoming Melbourne Gran Prix.

Ricciardo revealed, “After my first Red Bull Racing Road Trip in San Francisco, I’ve always wanted the opportunity to do this in Australia.” He continued, “To be back home, taking the RB7 across the Aussie outback, and sharing the best Australia has to offer with the world; what better way to celebrate my first F1 event at home since returning to Oracle Red Bull Racing.”

The road trip began in Perth, the former Australian Grand Prix winner’s home base, before heading into the wild west outback. Daniel Sanders leads Ricciardo to a remote cattle station and teaches him how to navigate the famous Aussie bull dust. From there, a quick pitstop is performed in the outback city of Broken Hill. Ricciardo then meets up with aerobatic pilot Matt Hall at the iconic Sea Cliff Bridge on NSW’s south coast for a true-blue test of handling corners.

Road Trip Across Australia’s Most Famous Locations

Toby Price makes an appearance in his Tatts Finke desert race-winning trophy truck. Price coaches Ricciardo on unsuspecting obstacles that may often occur down under. The trip ends at Australia’s most famous racetrack, Mount Panorama, where Shane Van Gisbergen led the RB7 around the track in his Red Bull Ampol Camaro, giving the dominant F1 car a taste of Australia’s most treacherous circuit.

The highlight for us was seeing Sanders launch his Dakar enduro motorcycle over the RB7 and Toby Price mixing it up in his off-road trophy truck. Also, it is not often you get to see a Formula 1 car spinning donuts in the dirt!
