The time has come for the entire off-road world to look towards Las Vegas and the Great American Off-Road Race. With over a week’s worth of festivities leading up to the racing on March 10th and 11th, a lot is going on at this year’s Mint 400. Let’s get into the details of how, who, and where to watch.
Watch The 2023 Mint 400 Live
Live and in-person is the best way to experience the race. There are multiple spectator areas to watch the race from, but nothing beats the start/finish line in Primm, Nevada. Here you gain access to the best view of the action right from the start as well as coverage from around the track broadcast on the jumbotron-style display. You will also find a host of food and drink vendors on-site to keep you fueled and refreshed during the race. Tickets are available at TheMint400.com.
For those that want to really catch a glimpse of speed, four other spectator spots are available out on track. At any of these, you can get the full experience of seeing the racers rip across the open desert. Tickets to these spots, just down the way in Jean, Nevada always sell out quickly, so make sure you secure yours as soon as possible.
Don’t worry if you can’t make it out to the race, The Mint 400 is produced by one of the best media companies in the industry. With that comes world-class coverage that has helped bring the Great American Off-Road Race into the spotlight that it deserves. 2023 Mint 400 Race Schedule
With over 450 racers already registered, there will be no shortage of great racing. The racing is split into two days of action, Limited and Unlimited classes. Friday the 10th, will feature the Limited and UTV race. This race will include a huge field in the UTV Classes along with the Vintage, TrophyLite, and Military classes. For us VW fans, there are over 40 rigs spread between Class 11, and 5-1600 to help get your bug fix.
For an extra dose of everything VW Bugs, you can count on Blake Wilkey getting shreddy in his Class 11 as well as his Baja Bug Trophy Truck.
Friday will also play host to the Unlimited Qualifying runs. The 4.2-mile qualifying session will be a chance to see the trucks and Unlimited cars in a sprint for starting positions. This is one of the most action-packed parts of the Mint 400 and guarantees all-out action and big air that you won’t want to miss.
On Saturday the 11th, the Unlimited classes get turned loose onto the course. Starting at 9:00 AM with the fourth annual grid walk, fans will get a chance to get an up-close view of all the amazing machines. Once the grid walk is complete, the race will get underway around 10:00 AM. With 400 miles of harsh terrain, you should see the front runners coming across the finish line sometime around 6:00 PM.
Who Is Racing The 2023 Mint 400?
Over 55 Unlimited trucks and Unlimited Spec Trucks are officially entered. We always see a grip of UTVs at the Mint, and this year is no exception. Over 100 SxS UTVs will be racing at the 2023 Mint 400. Those two categories alone make up only a third of the field! With numbers like this, there will be world-class talent all over the track. Out of all that talent, here are a few names to watch for on the leaderboards as the race plays out.
In the Unlimited race, all eyes will be on Adam Householder. Coming off a win at the first race of the 2023 Off-Road Triple Crown at King of the Hammers, he will surely be charging hard on race day. The 2021 race winner, Rob MacCachren, will be on course as well and is always a contender. Do not forget about heavy hitters like Luke McMillin, Justin Lofton, Ryan Arceiro, and 2022 winner Kyle Jergensen. In the spec trucks, Dustin Grabowski has to be one of the favorites to take the class. He took the overall at the inaugural California 300 and finished just behind Adam Householder for a class win at KOH.
On the UTV side, it’s hard to pick a driver that stands above the rest. There is so much talent in this year’s field that it’s ridiculous. 2022 Mint 400 winner Dustin Jones will be looking for a repeat of last year. Phil Blurton is also coming off a strong finish at KOH and could be a contender in Las Vegas. The trio of Red Bull Off Road Junior Team USA drivers, Mitch Guthrie, Seth Quintero, and AJ Jones are sure to be in the mix as well, so it’s hard to count any of those drivers out.

The Mint 400 is more than a race, it is an experience. That experience all starts on March 4th this year with the 6th Annual Mint 400 Desert Clean-Up presented by Republic Services. For those that came out to Las Vegas early, this great opportunity gives back and helps keep our off-road resources clean and pristine. Since its start, The Mint 400 Desert Clean-Up presented by Republic Services has removed over 187.87 tons (375,740 pounds) of illegally disposed garbage from the local Nevada desert.
Wednesday, March 8th is when the party on the strip begins. At 4:00 PM you can get a chance to see the famous Mint 400 vehicle parade. If you have never seen a line of trophy trucks cruising the Las Vegas strip, I can assure you it’s a sight to behold. The parade ends with the official Mint 400 kick-off party at The Strat Hotel and Casino. This free and open-to-the-public party is a chance to mingle with race teams and enjoy the Vegas nightlife Mint style.
All day on Thursday is The Mint 400 Off-Road festival. For over five decades, it has drawn the industry’s best racers, brightest mechanical minds, and most progressive off-road product makers to fabulous downtown Las Vegas Fremont Street. What started as a traditional one-day “tech and contingency” event has exploded into a full-blown off-road festival with over 150 exhibitors, 400 race vehicles, and an estimated 20,000 people.

The Official Hotel of the Mint 400 is The Strat, located on the North end of the strip and central to most everything in Las Vegas. Home to the kickoff party, it’s a great base for all the week’s activities. If being closer to the race is more your speed, you can also reserve a campsite in Primm. The Mint offers multiple options to keep you close to the action and can be found here. Another great option for those that want to be closer to the race but have a few more amenities is any of the Primm Valley Resort hotels right behind the Start/Finish.
