SEMA 2022: WARN Group Shows Off A Built Toyota Tundra Overlander

There were some real off-road winners at SEMA 2022. With one of the more practical, purpose-built machines sitting squarely inside the WARN Group booth. Steve Erdelyi, Research And Development Manager at Fabtech Motorsports walked us around the company’s 2022 Toyota Toyota Tundra Overlander test mule. A truck that packs some seriously ideal 4×4 and off-road-worthy products.

Starting things off on the truck’s nose is a component from WARN’s sister company, Fab Fours. The brand provided a front bumper for the Tundra build, which was then equipped with an LED lighting array from Baja Designs.

This trick bumper contains hidden mounts for the winch, as well as integrated tow recovery points integrated into the underside. Furthermore, this bumper allows the full usage of all OE sensors and accommodates up to a 12,000-pound winch setup.

With a WARN VR EVO 12-S synthetic rope unit on board, the team affixed a Factor 55 FlatLink E winch shackle mount and rope guard. The latter of which allows for closed-system winching.

All Fabtech joints come with a lifetime warranty.

Fabtech Dirt Logic Shocks provide lift and control, with coilovers up front, and bags in the rear for leveling purposes. We also discovered Fabtech’s all new stainless uni-ball front control arms,  sway bar link, and steering setup, all billet of course.

Out back, the Toyota Tundra Overlander relies upon a 3/8-inch lower link from Fabtech, stainless uni-ball rod ends and joints, as well as stainless rear sway bar end links.

This Toyota Tundra Overlander Is Decked Out!

A set of beefy looking 6-lug WARN/Epic Wheels “Jackhammer” alloys sat underneath. Naturally the wheels were adorned with a center hub cover that resembles WARN’s legendary locking hub mechanism. Obviously these were a cosmetic upgrade, for looks only, since the modern Toyota Tundra Overlander has no use for the mechanical locking hub. To keep this rig mobile on and off-road, Nitto Recon Grappler A/T Tires were selected as the rubber of choice.

To give the rig presentable looks that will provide a distinguished presentation everywhere she rolls, a custom vinyl wrap was applied. Diving further into off-road protection some one-off Fabtech rock sliders were fitted. To finish it off, the truck wears Fab Fours overland cargo rack system, and Fab Fours rear bumper with welded shackle eyelets. On top the Toyota Tundra Overlander was ready for off-road camping duties with a 3-person Maba roof top tent from Overland Vehicle Systems.

All 100% made in the U.S.A., the guys at the WARN booth say that now that the Toyota Tundra Overlander build is complete, they plan to, “Hoon the heck out of it.”

Of course any time we go perusing through the SEMA Show, we are going to geek out on the gear and goods. WARN Industries is known for their high-quality recovery gear and accessories and we were not disappointed with all on display.

The huge kinetic rope the looks like it could tow a tank, is in fact, quite often used to recover armored tanks.

All of these gismos and gadgets might seem overwhelming for someone that has never had the opportunity to use recovery gear like this. But that just means it is an opportunity to get educated. Factor 55 has presented all of their experienced knowhow and knowledge in these two guides. We grabbed some for ourselves to freshen up and sharpen our skillset.
