Off-Road Motorsports Hall Of Fame Class Of 2022 Announced

 

The Off Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHoF) recently announced the Class of 2022 last week. This is a much-anticipated class due to the high number of nominations received. According to ORMHoF Executive Administrator Barbara Rainey, there were a record 46 nominations for the 2022 class with nine open positions.

The 12-person Board of Directors reviewed and voted on the new inductees earlier this summer.

 

Here is your Hall of Fame Class of 2022

This just announced, your Class of 2022 consists of:

Jim Fricker – long-time co-driver for Carl Jackson and Rodney Hall. His advancements in co-driving as more than a navigator or ride a long mechanic revolutionized co-driving.

Randy Anderson – Crew Chief and co-owner of Walker Evans Racing. His story shows that even a high school kid with a broom can grow into one of the greatest crew chiefs in the sport.

Lance Clifford – Founder of Pirate4x4.com and pioneer of using the internet for live updates.

Vic Curl – Co-founder of Trackside Performance, he has spent the last 45 years in many aspects of off-road racing including working for SCORE International, American Motors Jeep and with Yokohama Tire.

Butch Dean – For over fifty years Valley Performance of Las Vegas has been the center of off-road racing parts and preparation. Butch Dean, co-founder of the shop, has mentored champions, built championship winning cars and helped shape the sport.

Brad Lovell – One of off-road racings great ambassadors, he played a major part in luring Ford back to rock sports.

Eric Solórzano – Grew up an orphan in Tijuana he worked as a mechanic to race motorcycles until 1989. He built his first race car, a Class 11 VW Beetle which has taken him to 11 championships. His story gives hope to others who grew up the same way that you can do anything.

Scott Taylor – A Midwest-based short course off-road racer he started in VW-powered buggies and then went on to Ford vehicles. He has won 18 championships, including six in a row in Pro2. Owner of Scott Taylor Engineering he remains busy in the sport even after retiring from driving in 2013.

Mike Thomas – You may not know the name, but you know the company he founded, Chenoweth Racing Products. Starting in 1979 until his death in 2007 Chenoweth cars have won the Baja 1000 overall 12 times. Mike also designed the Chenoweth Fast Attack Vehicle, 300 were built for the Army, Marines, and Navy Seals. Mike accompanied his fleet into war zones in the middle east to offer support to crews using them in battle.

When is the Induction Ceremony?

The Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame Induction & Awards Gala presented by 4 Wheel Parts will be Sunday, October 30th, at the South Point Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tickets are available here. The Off Road Motorsports Hall of Fame induction kicks off the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) Show week. Event Director for the ORMHoF, Jenn Hellstrom told Off Road Xtreme about the ceremony, “It is the reunion of the year. Many of the past inductees who do not attend the races anymore show up.”

Can anyone nominate someone for the ORMHoF?

Yes, you need to be a member of the ORMHoF, which is $25.00 annually. Nominations open for the month of April. There are nomination packets available on the ORMHoF website to help guide you.
