More Muscle: New 455-Horsepower Tune For Ford Bronco Raptor And Ranger Raptor

As if the Ford Bronco Raptor and Ranger Raptor weren’t droolworthy enough, Ford Performance Parts has unveiled a new software calibration that punches up the horsepower and torque of each vehicle. The result is an attention grabbing 455 horsepower and 536 pound-feet of torque. Here’s a look at the new Ford software calibration for each vehicle.

Bronco Raptor

For the 2022-2024 Ford Bronco Raptor SUV, the Ford Performance Parts software calibration increases the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6’s horsepower from 418 to 455 and ups the torque from 440 to 536 pound-feet. The horsepower peaks at 5,500 rpm, while torque peaks at 3,000 rpm. Ford says the calibrations are engineered and dyno-tested to not only deliver more power and improved performance, but also to ensure reliability. It’s said that the result of the tune includes improved throttle response through the entire rpm range. Additionally, the recalibration includes an optimized shift schedule, which is said to improve driving dynamics.

How does the recalibrated Bronco Raptor compare to some of its competitors? Well, the standard 4.0-liter V6 in the 2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro produces 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid-powered 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe produces 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The Pentastar V6 in the 2024 Jeep Wrangler makes 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

Ranger Raptor

The new Ford Performance Parts software calibration for the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor pickup bumps the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6’s torque from 430 to 536 pound-feet, while horsepower increases from 405 to 455. Like the Bronco Raptor tune, the horsepower peaks at 5,500 rpm, while the torque peaks at 3,000 rpm. Also like the Bronco Raptor, the tune improves throttle response, is dyno-tested, and designed to maintain reliability. Furthermore, it includes an optimized shift schedule.

If you’re wondering how the tuned Ranger Raptor compares to some of its competitors, here are a few numbers. The i-Force Max hybrid I-4 in the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro produces 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. The 2.7-liter I-4 in the 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 makes 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Finally, the Pentastar V6-powered 2024 Jeep Gladiator makes 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

The New Ford Software Calibration Requires Premium Fuel, Is 49-State Legal

There are more commonalities between the Bronco Raptor and Ranger Raptor tunes from Ford Performance Parts. For example, premium fuel is required (91 octane minimum), and they’re for U.S. and Canada vehicles only. For U.S. users, the tune is 49-state approved, and you can probably guess which state is a no-go. Additionally, a M-12655-F Pro-Cal 4 delivery tool is included, and the ProCal tool can read and clear DTCs. Finally, tire size and gear ratio cannot be adjusted, but the tune has a 3-year/36,000-mile Ford Performance Parts warranty from new vehicle in-service when it’s installed at a Ford dealer or by an ASE/Red Seal certified technician.

MSRP And More Info
