Warn has just unveiled its all-new ZEON XD winch, which the company says features improvements, refinements, and upgrades. It says the result is a premium winch that’s “…for the times it just has to work, no matter the conditions.” We like the sound of that. But how does it accomplish that goal? Read on.
The ZEON XD Is Available In Two Versions
Let’s get right to it. The ZEON XD is available in 10-S and 12-S versions, offering a 10,000- and 12,000-pound capacity, respectively. Each boasts an upgraded high-performance electric motor and gear train. This combination is said to achieve unparalleled no-load line speeds, reaching up to 40 feet per minute. Moreover, the integration of OEM-grade bus bars enhances electrical connections, eliminating exposed wires and enhancing efficiency. Consequently, the winch exhibits increased pulling power and speed, ensuring optimal performance even in the most challenging conditions.
The ZEON XD now features enhanced IP68 submersion capabilities. Furthermore, it has new IP69K waterproof construction that is rigorously tested for high-pressure scenarios. Improved O-ring rubber sealing further fortifies the winch against external elements, guaranteeing prolonged, dependable operation. Warn has upgraded the winch’s fasteners to corrosion-resistant black components identical to those offered to its OEM customers. Furthermore, an updated UV-resistant bus bar cover is provided.
Full-metal armor shields ZEON XD’s critical components such as the high-speed motor and heavy-duty three-stage planetary gear train from trail hazards and damage. Of note, Warn says that the new ZEON XD’s gear train stands as the most efficient and robust gear set to date, minimizing strain on components and enhancing overall durability.
Fit With Synthetic Rope And A Large-Diameter Aluminum-Alloy Drum
Each ZEON XD winch is equipped with Warn’s Spydura synthetic rope. This rope is known for its strength, lightweight nature, and user-friendly handling. The ZEON XD 10-S is outfitted with 100 feet of 3/8-inch Spydura rope, while the ZEON XD 12-S features 80 feet of 3/8-inch Spydura Pro rope. Both are accompanied by an abrasion sleeve and forged steel hook. Regardless of the chosen capacity, an upgraded forged aluminum black hawse fairlead is included. This fairlead ensures superior resistance to corrosion, impact, salt, weather, and UV rays.
Furthermore, the ZEON XD has a distinctive large-diameter aluminum-alloy drum. The substantial radius of the drum minimizes stress on the rope, thereby prolonging its service life. Additionally, Warn says the through-drum rope attachment stands as the market’s strongest anchor. The drum facilitates effortless rope replacement while maintaining robust performance.
Corded Waterproof Remote, HUB Wireless Receiver, Six-Segment Cone Brake
The all-new ZEON XD incorporates the highly dependable Albright contactor. It ensures exceptional electrical control, efficiency, and reliability. Moreover, the winch’s removable control pack offers versatility in mounting options. By utilizing the separately sold control pack relocation kit, users can easily install it behind various bumpers or in compact spaces.
The winch comes equipped with a user-friendly corded waterproof remote featuring a 12-foot lead. Furthermore, it includes a HUB wireless receiver. This enables wireless control with a range exceeding 100 feet when paired with the Warn HUB app on compatible iOS and Android smartphones.
For enhanced control, the ZEON XD features a best-in-class six-segment cone brake capable of securely holding the winch’s full rated load, regardless of the angle. This feature ensures the vehicle remains secured without risk of slippage.
American Product Designers, Engineers, Technicians, And Assemblers
The Warn ZEON XD is brought to you by American product designers, engineers, technicians, and assemblers. The assembly of ZEON XD takes place within the 200,000 square-foot ISO-quality-certified Warn facility located in Clackamas, Oregon. In this facility, 400 employees engage in metal cutting, gear shaping, and collaborative efforts to manufacture this winch alongside other Warn winches.
Over 65 years ago Warn Industries pioneered the DC-electric vehicle recovery winch. Nowadays, the company produces components such as hub locks and vehicle recovery winches. The company designs, manufactures and markets a full line of off-road equipment and accessories that improve the performance of four-wheel-drive and powersport vehicles. Additionally, Warn Industries also includes Factor 55, a manufacturer of highly engineered rigging hardware; Fabtech, a producer of premium suspension systems, shocks, and leveling kits; and Fab Fours, a leading manufacturer of fabricated mounting solutions for trucks and Jeeps.
The ZEON XD is the next iteration of the company’s popular ZEON winches. Warn says the ZEON XD will eventually replace that lineup.
