2024 Toyota Tacoma Teasers Have Truck Fans Salivating

As of recent, Toyota USA has been dropping a tasty cookie trail of teasers on the soon-to-be-released 2024 Toyota Tacoma. We have a pretty good idea on the general look of the vehicle based on some leaked images and fan renderings. You can see all of that in our last article; 2024 Toyota Tacoma Leaked Out And The Hype Is Real. We had limited speculative knowledge of the main vehicle features. Now after the latest teaser from today of a third pedal, Toyota Truck fans are salivating with excitement.

Before we get to that, let us roll back to what we know so far. Footprint-wise, the next-generation 2024 Tacoma will not be much larger than the current-generation Tacoma. Structurally, the 2024 Tacoma will be based on Toyota’s New Global Architecture-F (TNGA-F) program. We can also assume the new Yota may be powered by a turbocharged 2.4-liter inline four powerplant borrowed from other Toyota platforms. Ranging to about 275 horsepower or 300 points with a hybrid configuration a new Tacoma would offer good fuel mileage and plenty of power on tap.

Trim models for the 2024 Toyota Tacoma would likely include TRD Pro, Limited, TRD Off-Road, TRD Sport, Trail, SR5, and the SR.

2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro

At Off Road Xtreme, we are most excited about the 2024 Tacoma TRD Pro and so is Toyota. On April 4, they dropped the hint of the upcoming TRD Pro edition being equipped with an electrifying i-FORCE MAX performance motor variant. This is great news for truck owners who want more fuel economy and great power.

Some of the things we saw and enjoyed while testing driving the 2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro will likely trickle down onto the 2024 Tacoma TRD Pro. Perhaps this might include electronic locking differentials, crawl control, carbon composite bed and trim panels, skid plate package, and a few other goodies.

What we do know to be included on the TRD Pro, as indicated in an April 18th post to social media, will be the Fox Factory QS3 internal bypass coilover shocks.

Based on Fox’s conventional nomenclature of their product line, the QS3 stands for Quick Switch three-point adjustments and will likely feature an external piggyback reservoir. By concept, the vehicle shocks could easily and quickly be tuned between three specific settings: maximum comfort, extra support during hard acceleration, or most responsive and precise handling.

The last things to be spotted in this same post and likely relative to the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, are the large oversized all-terrain tires, the large TRD Pro Wheels, and this is exciting, rear disc brakes. Before, the TRD Pro Tacoma never had disc brakes available.

2024 Tacoma Trailhunter Teaser Revealed

We mentioned Toyota’s seven different traditional trim packages already but there could be more. We know Toyota introduced the Capstone for the Tundra, and the 1794 edition has been a staple on the big brother truck. On April 11th, Toyota alluded to something more in the form of a Trailhunter edition. In these two images, we can see a bolstered steel stamped bumper concept by ARB, a special edition Trailhunter badging, heavy-duty red powdercoated off-road recovery hooks, apparently a tow package, and some very fancy LED lighting up front. Considering this package is offering its own custom headlight upgrade, we are betting there are a lot more functional tricks yet to be revealed on the Trailhunter.

Is The 2024 Tacoma An Outdoor Enthusiasts’ Dream Ride

We will admit that Toyota knows its customer market well enough to create die-hard loyalists. They have done an outstanding job at manufacturing vehicles known for their reliability and resell value. Beyond that, their vehicles have become popular platforms for overlanding and outdoor recreationists.

With that in mind, it is apparent Toyota is building these new vehicles to totally embrace that lifestyle. On April 25th, they dropped another Easter Egg showing off a portable JBL speaker system. One that would live inside the vehicle to charge up and offer premium audio while driving, and then could be placed outside to continue the vibes while kicking it.

A Modern Truck With A Manual Gear Box!

Perhaps the most shocking tidbit hint on this new truck so far is three pedals. Indicating the 2024 Toyota Tacoma will be available with a manual transmission is a huge surprise to automotive journalists like myself. When most OEMs are working towards fully automated vehicles, Toyota once again proves itself to be an out-of-the-box non-conformist.

Their post from May 2 says it all. “Legends are more than automatic; they always come in clutch. The all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma, available with a six-speed manual transmission.”

Honestly, I commend them for this bold move but also accept that they will be marketing this vehicle platform as a global workhorse. Integrating a manual transmission is also a positive nod to the loyal truck enthusiasts who have been commenting on the cookie trail that is the 2024 Toyota Tacoma hype. The fans are not content with a few images shared weeks apart. I am one of them and demand the full vehicle release in all of its detail. Till then, we can reveal this throwback Toyota pickup truck that was shared in late March. It really stormed up the hornet’s nest and had the fans saying “Enough already! Make this truck again and it would be a top seller.”

2024 Toyota Tacoma Reveal

Toyota USA has not revealed pricing or a date on the reveal. They do keep saying it will be soon. Do you know what else is just right around the corner? Overland Expo West is on the calendar for May 19-21 in Flagstaff, Arizona. If they are not doing the reveal there, or have not already done the reveal by then, Toyota is missing a golden opportunity.

May 4, 2023 Update: The day after we published Toyota shared another big post. The update includes an announcement of the 2024 Tacoma world debut slated for May 19th. Additionally, they posted a single side profile silhouette. Coincidence? Looks like we may have been onto something regarding the Overland Expo!

After a little investigation, we found several more images in the Toyota Newsroom website that revealed cab configuration, wheelbase, and some other aspects of the TRD Pro and Trailhunter.
