Getting out there is what Steve Torres is all about, and he’s made it possible through his 2015 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. With his working days behind him, Steve has more time than ever to enjoy off-roading, and he’s doing it more and more thanks to the Jeep.
“The day I turned in my paperwork for retirement, I decided I was going to buy something I always wanted,” he said. “I bought the Jeep in August 2019. It was already slightly modified with a mild lift and 35″ tires. It was a good starting point.”
However, Steve wasn’t content to keep it “slightly modified” for very long. After a trip to the Superstition Mountains in Arizona, Steve saw how poorly his Jeep handled nighttime driving. “I got lights very quickly after that,” he said.
Lights soon became fenders. Fenders led to suspension. Mods begat more mods. FOX shocks, MetalCloak springs, regeared axles, upgraded steering, 37-inch tires, and more all found their way onto the JK.
Among these upgrades came a Flowmaster 40 Series muffler, which greatly improved the Jeep’s exhaust note. “I remembered having a Flowmaster muffler on a Chevy I used to own,” commented Steve. “It really made that truck sound a lot better, and I wanted the same for the Jeep.”
Steve upgraded his Jeep with a Flowmaster 40 Series muffler. It offered better sound, as well as increased ground clearance.
“Now with the muffler, the Jeep sounds way better,” continued Steve. “People tell me it sounds badass, and I agree. Plus, its position down there improved the Jeep’s departure angle. So now I can crawl over rocks without worrying about damaging anything.”
Now in 2021, Steve has a couple of big trips planned. “I’m thinking of doing the Rubicon in June,” he said. “After that, my friends and I are going to Moab around August. It’ll be a fun year for sure!
