Built Strong: Two Adults Can Stand On The Mountain Top Tonneau Cover

A lot of tonneau covers will leave you high and dry when you’re out in the wilderness, but that shouldn’t be the case. Mountain Top’s latest offering, the EVO, will let customers keep their bed-stored valuables in their truck without fear of damage or thievery.

In situations like hunting or camping, the ways the EVO will prove useful are various. Its construction and functionality point to a product that stays durable and adapts to multiple situations, and the fitment options are sure to make lots of truck owners happy.

The Mountain Top EVO tonneau cover is available for several late-model trucks. The product line covers the Silverado, Sierra, F-150, Ram 1500, and Toyota Tundra.

We recently got the opportunity to check out the EVO in person. Just a few days ago, we traveled to Arizona to take part in a product showcase and see the EVO up close and personal. Our guide for this showcase was Jennifer Collins, Director of Marketing for LTA Manufacturing, the parent company of Mountain Top.

Checking Out The Mountain Top EVO

The EVO comes as a retractable unit that folds neatly into a storage box at the front of the bed, but this is where the similarities end with other retractable covers. For one, the EVO comes with accessory tracks as standard, whereas other tonneau covers require customers to purchase the tracks separately. “Our accessory tracks come with the unit by default and fit a variety of popular rack systems,” said Collins. “These include Thule, Yakima, and Go Rhino.”

The EVO also mounts atop the bedsides, instead of in between them. This means the user gains a couple of extra inches in usable height space of the bed.

The EVO tonneau cover makes use of six drainage points to prevent water from pooling and stagnating. As evidence of this, a truck in Tampa, Florida got rained on during a hurricane. When the owner went to open his EVO cover, he found the inside completely dry!

As the EVO is a retractable cover, it spools out of a canister at the foot of the bed. The lid on the canister lifts up effortlessly, making it easy to inspect and wash out any leaves, pine needles, or other debris that collects inside. “Mountain Top did a great job on the water management side of things, too,” Collins pointed out. “There are six water drainage points to prevent stagnant water from forming.”

Perhaps one of the biggest selling points of the EVO cover is its strength. Using powder-coated aluminum slats as the foundation, the cover has been shown to withstand upwards of 450 pounds of weight on top of it and still function perfectly. That means you can stand on it and still be able to use it afterwards!

The EVO uses aluminum slats with interlocking C-channels. They’re incredibly tough, and can withstand up to 450 pounds of static weight on top and still function perfectly. Yes, you can stand on this tonneau cover!

That strength also ties into its security. As Collins explained, “The slats are held together with interlocking C-shaped channels. That makes them impossible to pry apart and gain access to the bed. And since they interlock with each other, it makes it easy to replace any slats if they do get damaged.”

The Mountain Top EVO tonneau cover is a bed storage tool that’s ideal for truck owners. Its strength, security, and protection against the elements will give you peace of mind anywhere you go.
