GMC Canyon AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition Revealed

Well, here’s a bit of good news for all you GMC fans out there. The truck-centric GM brand has just released details on its 2021 Canyon AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition, and from what we’ve seen, it’s looking like a pretty nice OEM GMC 4×4 package. Looking to build upon the extremely capable Canyon AT4 pickup truck, GMC claims that its off-road package upgrade option will enable customers to “confidently venture into rugged off-road environments.”

First revealed in January 2020, the GMC Canyon AT4 made an impression with its practical design points and premium components. Some of the standard goodies are its 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires and an exclusive off-road-calibrated suspension setup. These two pickup truck package upgrades are accompanied by GM’s outstanding Advanced Hill Descent Control System, and a four-wheel drive system that sports an Eaton G80 auto-locking rear differential.

The 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition comes with a nice array of useful OEM 4×4 upgrades.

Retaining all of these core 4×4 features, and then adding its own spice to the mix, the GMC Canyon AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition offers even more capability for trail explorers and mud lovers. The introduction of a leveling kit and the removal of the AT4’s restrictive front air dam allows for a 35-percent greater approach angle, with GMC reporting that nearly 30-degree slopes can now be conquered in the already capable pickup truck.

Approach angles aren’t everything though, so GMC outfitted the Canyon AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition with rocker panel protectors and sturdy front and mid-body skid plates. This shielding is a welcome sight for those who like to push pickup trucks to their limits.

Aesthetic blacked-out accents and practical touches on the 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition appear to be both attractive and practical.

As with any limited edition OEM auto manufacturer package options, the 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition taps into its luxury goody bag for some nice aesthetic touches. A few of these standard package upgrades include unique 17-inch gloss black wheels, Carbon Black AT4 logos, and floor liners and a spray-in bedliner.

GM says the truck will be made available for order later in the year, and that we should stay tuned for further updates. In the meantime, head on over to GMC’s website to view more official photos and configurations.
