2020 Product Showcase: FK Rod Ends Encapsulating Rubber Boots

FK’s rubber boots fully encase the rod end to help keep the ball of the joint free from dirt and debris.

Over the course of a racing season, racers spend hours in prep time, cleaning and lubricating rod end bearings. Not all rod ends are created equal but all rod ends are exposed to the same elements. Especially in dirt track racing where water, dirt, and grit can harm the bearing surface.

FK Rod Ends has the ultimate solution to protect and extend the life of rod end bearings. An encapsulating rubber boot! The FK Rod Ends’ RERS series boots are designed to protect the rod end from contaminates like dirt, sand, and water.

These encapsulated rubber boots completely enclose the head portion of the rod end and are held in place by the rod end’s mounting bolt. The boots provide a barrier type of protection against all forms of contamination but easy enough to remove for periodic inspection.

Routine inspection of the rod end is limited to regularly inspecting the boot for any tears or openings that would allow dirt, water, or other contaminants into the rod end. The boots do require regular cleaning, just like the rod end.

FK Rod Ends sells the boots in standard packages of six boots. They are offered in various inch sizes and metric sizes to cover rod ends from 3/16ths-inch to 1 1/4-inch in both male and female inch-sized rod ends. Metric sizes range from 6mm to 35mm in male and female rod ends.
